PRs (That’s Perspiration Records)

It’s hot. That’s become the common descriptor for our workouts. And somehow we still managed some PRs, despite the the best efforts of that goddamn sun and its nigh-unbearable heat. In fact, Jamil nearly managed to repeat his Herculean sub-11:30 (in a taper week, no less), and #FastAnnie shall henceforth be known simply as Fast after her 15:30. read more

Love is Love is Love is Love is Love is Love is Love is Love

“We rise and fall and light from dying embers, remembrances that hope and love last longer
And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside.”

Wisconsin Notes
• NP Summit is a month away! We will be outside of Toronto July 14-17, with a pop-up workout happening that Friday. You really don’t want to miss this.
• We will be out at Road Runner Sports Tempe’s Adventure Run tomorrow night. Check out the Cactus Lounge if you’re interested in helping man our booth and/or checkpoint, or for additional details if you want to run.
• Mondays are still A Thing. We’ll see you on at 5:59am at either 56th St/Camelback (Phoenix) or A Mountain (Tempe). Our goal is a consistent 40 people to both workouts before we make it official. Help us reach that goal.
• We will be celebrating our first birthday on July 6. We want 100 people at that workout (we want 100 at every workout, but especially that one). You can make it happen, I have faith in you. read more

We’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain

We’ll be comin’ round the mountain when we crush (crush some stairs)

We’ll be givin’ hugs and high-5’s when we crush (crush some stairs)

We’ll be wearin’ #grassrootsgear, we’ll be shoutin’ “eff yeah!” clear, we’ll be comin’ round the mountain when we crush (crush some stairs) read more

Bike that AZ Up

Meet Katie. Katie is a lot of things: Iron Man, all-terrain cyclist, perennial podium-qualifier (seriously, check out her Athlinks page), tortoise enthusiast, Aries, soon-to-be sister-in-law to our girl Ais. Today, she celebrated her last day at NP for a while, due to an upcoming surgery.

(7+3)*3=… Umm… (carry the 3)… Thirty!

Print media lives. World Takeover is real. And you have been in lockstep with the Movement for over a year now. As you may be aware, our Fearless Leaders have written a book, which is scheduled to drop next Tuesday, April 12. We received advanced copies, and I have to say that it’s both quite informative AND a good read (not quite up to par with the Silo series, but that’s a story for another day). Get your copy on Amazon, and celebrate with us next Wednesday. read more

Break Out The Rye Bread and Mustard, Grandma!

The tribe hit a grand salami today. Carve out a bust, send it to Cooperstown: this crew is HOF-worthy. Consider the baseball workout crushed. And by that I mean that I failed to communicate effectively (or you failed to listen), so nearly everyone gave 110%: stretching every hit into a home run rather than run directly back to Wyatt, doing the workout at each base instead of just the one corresponding to their hit, going spikes-up to break up a double-play, the works. It was glorious, and made only better by the appearance of a Positivity Award carved out of an actual baseball bat that itself was carved out of a tree trunk split in two by lightning. read more

This Is a Love Letter

Ed note: Just over one year ago, Ashley and Jackie set foot on the amphitheater stairs and laid the groundwork for what would become November Project Phoenix. To celebrate the occasion, we asked Ashley to write this week’s blog post. So here it is, raw and uncut. Words might not be able to fully express what We All have built, but this comes pretty damn close. read more

We Call That “Active Recovery”

IMG_0334

Hysterics aren’t supposed to permeate the amphitheater toward the end of our workout, especially not on PR day. This is supposed to be fierce, difficult, painful; it’s why we snap our group photo with straight(ish) faces. And yet, there you were, laughing at our useless attempt to break you with partner sets following a grueling PR workout. read more

“The Whole Stairs Shimmies”

I write to you from a heart-shaped tub, bubbles caressing me as if I’m swimming in the flute of 1998 Dom Pérignon P2 at my side. A tray of chocolate-covered strawberries sits atop the bed, the pink sheen of its silk sheets dampened ever-so-slightly by rose petals. “If the spirit moves you, let me groove you good,” Marvin Gaye croons from the speakers. If this is heaven, well… when was Saint Peter replaced by Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas? read more

Buy buff. Wear buff. Get BUFF.

People often wonder how we support this November Project habit of ours. Today, the tribe found out. Like Ludacris before “What’s Your Fantasy,” we make that paper selling wares out of our trunks. Except instead of CDs, we sell buffs.

Wisco Notes

  • High-5 to everyone who ran the Rock n’ Roll Arizona marathon and half marathon this past weekend, and a HUGE Fuck Yeah! to all of you who went a step further and Just Showed Up this morning. You’re crazy, and I love you.
  • The Republican party was founded in Ripon, WI, in 1854. I will now back away slowly.
  • NP Social! We will have a social on Sunday, February 21 following Nick’s Run. Family, friends, kids, are all welcome.
  • What is Nick’s Run, you ask? It is a race benefiting Angels for Athletes, and put on by our own Jeremy Heath (of Gemini Virgo Productions)! There are 5k and 10k options, as well as a kids fun run. Jeremy has hooked us up with a discount code, “NOVPROJ20,” for 20% off your registration. Hurry, it expires January 31. Yes, I realize this is the same weekend as Ragnar Del Sol, but you can easily manage an additional three or six miles. You’re strong; we believe in you.

Lies. We don’t actually make any money off of anything we do relating to NP. Zip. Zero. Ain’t get no dinero. The buffs are $5, which happens to be our cost. And they’re going fast. We will bring them to every workout until they’re gone, and those who miss out will have to make like a Cubs fan: Maybe next year. read more
