All The Way Up & Friday Plans (VB)

Let’s talk about Wednesday first and then we will get to the Friday plans (hype).

Wednesday May 9th 2018, we bounced up top then headed down to the playground. There we found a partner. For those that had to stay on the playground first it was a spider web of different body weight workouts while your partner ran the goat trail loop up to the top, once they completed the loop back down the stairs to the playground. They found you & then SWITCH. Your turn! read more

Fridays Forever (VB)

April 2018, the month that #NP_VB finally made it official, two free workouts a week — Forever.

615AM Wednesdays – Mt Trashmore

530AM Fridays – Rotating Locations

Joining other NP cities that host two workouts a week like Philadelphia, Seattle, Baltimore, San Diego, LA, Denver, etc. We choose the 530AM time slot because it allows us to get up & get after it. Earning our weekend before most alarm clocks go off. It also allows us to explore different parts of not only Virginia Beach but all of Hampton roads and beyond?! Expect rotating locations and new places (Norfolk, Chesapeake, Sandbridge (before may 18th for Briar!), Hampton, and maybe even up on the Eastern Shore once in the summer.. & sometimes we will be right back at Mt Trashmore on a Friday. read more

We #FilledTheStairs – Now what? (VB)

This past Wednesday (January 17th 2018), November Project Virginia Beach finally Filled The Stairs at Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach (USA). It was one of those unreal, once-in-a-lifetime, type mornings. Yes it was a dream. Yes it was a goal. HISTORY LESSON: Retired NP_VB Co-Leader Kris Utt came up with the #FillTheStairs idea back in March 2016 — It had been a rough winter of cold weather and low numbers at workouts (shout out to the OGs who remember those dark cold mornings) This was a time back when smack talk between NP tribes was high(er) #talk30tome — generally between Boston & DC & sometimes SF arguing about who was the Mothership of NP -and that #MotherShift was happening. They argued who had the biggest, baddest, & best tribe. It was a lot more frequent then. So we used the #FillTheStairs blog as a way for us to connect to the tribe for a common goal and spark some buzz. We call that HYPE now. We wanted to play with the big boy cities too! We wanted to roll deep at the Endurance Challenges and say we have the best tribe. We at least wanted to pretend to talk smack and most importantly we wanted the RESPECT. We wanted to put Virginia Beach on the MAP… (below are some group photos from Jan & Feb 2016) read more

RACHEL’S GOOD-BYE

NP Family is kind of like real family. We count on each other to be there when we need each other, we give each other a hard time sometimes, we get mad at each other over stupid things and then we forgive each other. We get sad when someone moves away and it becomes harder to see them. read more

BUFF szn (VB)

Welp. Winter is finally here. The first sub freezing workout in a long time and the tribe showed up in a big way. (Let it be known we did not have any newbies today) Way to be tribe! It was 26 degrees but with a feels like 13! Woohoo! We don’t want to brag too much though.. NP Buffalo had a -3 degree wind chill. See below. read more

Stranger Things & Hell Week & Buffalo (VB)

Happy Wednesday! This week is Hell Week II: The Upside Down. What is Hell Week? Hell Week is 5 straight days of 530AM workouts in different locations #exploreyourcity. 3 Down & 2 to go! Here is the recap of the week so far:

MONDAY: NORFOLK

We met at the bow of the USS Wisconsin, Speaking of Wisconsin — have you heard of the New Podcast on iTunes called Wisconsin Notes? No? Well we will tell you about it then! Basically, back in the day DG (Dan Graham who happens to be BG’s Big Brother) did not like writing the blog so as the Co-leader of the Madison tribe at the time — he created a blog that was no nonsense and just a quick recap of what’s going on and it was in bullet point format, he called  it Wisconsin Notes. This week’s feature on the podcast is the Co-Leader from NP Buffalo aka YOGA STEVE. Each podcast is designed to be short and sweet and to the point. Steve’s episode is maybe 4 mins long so stop scrolling and throw those headphones in! PS it helps that Steve is really good looking. read more

Straight Back. Straight Face. PRDay. (VB)

Today was #PRday. The last Wednesday of the Month. A day where we race the clock (& past versions of ourselves). We use each other to push faster and the feel of competition is in the air– because after all, It is race day.

The #PRday course is unique here at #NP_VB / Mount Trashmore Park. 5 Burpees to start, 5 laps (& 5 Burpees at the turn of each lap), and you end with 5 burpees. For a total of 5 laps and 30 Burpees. It never gets easier and let me tell you, those back side set of stairs are the WORST — that is usually where people begin to slow down and maybe even walk a few steps before the top to catch their breath and then they pick it up again. read more

Bridge Mondays Pop-Up (VB)

Late last night Barry and I decided a Monday Pop-Up & running over bridges would be fun #exploreyourcity. So we put the idea out to social media and the tribe seemed to like it. 16 people showed up (and one newbie! S/O to Bianca! That’s pretty cool.

We learned a new workout called pushing up daisies, kinda had to be there. We ran over the North Great Neck Road bridge a few times. The sun was coming up, we said good morning, and the air was crisp like spring flavored dryer sheets. read more

we found our beach (VB)

Today is Friday. It is the 5th of May (Cinco De Mayo). So we decided to have a Friday Pop-Up, switch up the location, and try to find our beach. Well, we found our beach and it is Virginia Beach!
