That summer heat is starting to already kick in. The super dry zero humidity is starting to chalk up our throats and make us even more thankful for that H2O after our work outs. If only Adam Sandler could be our water boy would we be fully fulfilled. Not really. We had a successful recruiting session at the Hollywood Farmers Market and had some friends come for the first time today. Today was April. Today was the last day of April. Today was PR day. With a little umpf and a little gah we did two tours of the Hollywood Bowl. The Tribe got turned up with Harry Belfonte’s “Jump in the Line” getting there feet not only racing ready but samba ready as well. There was encouragement and some fast tribe members. Kudos to Tod, who had his first day today, and was pushing people to race harder after he had completed with a speedy time.
No Excuse.
There is something about waking up every Wednesday. I know for myself it feels like Christmas morning. No exaggeration. This morning I was up before the clock and already knew it was going to be a good day.
We all gathered outside the bowl, smiles on our faces our feet ready to move. Upon starting we had a little high school reunion between two fellas, Angel and John, who haven’t seen each other since their teenage years. It was John’s first day. He found out just through the feed on Angel’s Facebook to just show up. Today is also John’s birthday. First day. First day celebrating his birthday with November Project. Not the last day working out with November Project. We want to give you a huge FUCK YEAH for coming your first time on your Birthday. You don’t let anything get in your way. You let there be no excuses.
Couple’s are Back.

The tribe is family, the tribe is together!
The Hollywood Bowl is in a state of overhaul, receiving a little face lift in preparation for a summer of concerts and shows. The tribe is greeted this morning with the peaceful, relaxing, ambient sound of… construction. The air rings with the pounding of hammer on nail, the buzzing of saw on wood, the beeping of trucks in reverse, and the chatter of familiar men in hardhats. And although the peaceful blowing of breeze and chirping of birds is drowned out, the tribe is close enough to whisper our good mornings, arms shoulder to shoulder, shuffling our feet. But of course, this whisper only lasts for so long, as the tribe takes off, breaking into hoots and hollers, running our little impromptu construction obstacle course warm-up. The tribe is ready to get down and inevitably dirty as we bring forth our inner animal. Piggies ride the backs of their partner, bears roar as they climb the hill, and little crabs scurry to the entrance of the stadium.
Today, we bear hug a member with whom we’ve never shared a partner day, and get ready to take it back to a tribal favorite we’ve coined, “Couple’s Retreat”. With some 90s hip-hop jamming in the background the clock starts and the tribe is off, charging the stairs like there’s no tomorrow. It may not be Friday night, but the feeling’s still right, at NP LAX, this is how we do it!
Today’s “Couple’s Retreat” consisted of four staples in our roster; as one partner takes two laps up and down their claimed stairwell, the other is busting out squats, planks, burpies (everyone’s favorite!!), and v-ups. After 25 solid minutes of intense work that would make any athlete nice and sweaty, we gathered down at the base of the stadium to wrap things up. But wait, we’ve still got some time, “Everyone on your stomachs and into plank position!” After holding planks for 60 seconds, its a Mad Dash up the stairs to the top of the bowl. What better way to round off a good workout than with a frantic sprint.
We then gather in close for a handful of announcements, first and foremost, our coveted BananaPhone award. We value each and every one of our fellow tribesmen and women, but this Wednesday special recognition went to a member who has been with us since day one; a powerful force of positivity, encouragement, killer dance moves, smiles, and a mean burpie! Lauren Cortizo will be making the trek to Boston this weekend to join the dozens of other tribe members from around the nation in support of that wonderful city by the sea, all of its lovely people, and the idea that community, camaraderie, support, and passion trump any and all negatives the world may present.

Bring Your Vee-Hackle to Workout Day

Boy have we been weather proof! Some of us woke up this morning with chapped lips and the slight smell of BO radiating from our armpits from this weeks heat. But that didn’t stop us from waking up this morning embracing our scent and hugging our friendly tribe members. When we said that today we would be going buckwild we truly meant it.
#UniteLA (LAX)
No we don’t mean uniting Louisiana. As awesome as the state of PoBoys, jazz, and crocs is, we mean the good ‘ole city of Los Angeles. November Project is a mission in the city of LA. Tom Cruise said he wouldn’t sign on for another Mission Impossible so his under studies, Angelo and Orrin took the reigns. Much like NYC there are different burrows and what seems like easy connect-abilty amongst the masses, with highways and everyone able to commute by automobile. You’d think it would be a piece of cake. But this ends up turning into a cluster of gridlock and people often secluding to their specific neighborhood. Here, so many people lock themselves in their cars, where they commute to work, with no interaction. Some will then go sit in a cubicle, with no interaction. Works over. Right back into their cars. We want to challenge this. We want people to get as many hugs in before that rush hour, to meet a new friend before the fluorescent lights replace the sunrise and to ultimately Unite LA through our camaraderie that is November Project-Los Angeles. Preachy… maybe. Fun…Yes. Doable… Fuck YEAH!
