Red, white and you (YWG)

Wisconsin Notes:

  • Kristjana is the epitome of NP
  • June was a busy month
  • Canada Day workout on Friday. January- June birthdays wear RED. July-December- wear WHITE. 6:14 am at The Legislative Building

First things first, Kristjana is the realest. She lives for this shit, and she does it well. When we had the recruiting challenge, she handily won by bringing out the most first timers. She shows up, works hard, recruits, keeps that big smile on her face, and like Megan said, she knows a lot about November Project. She seems to know what’s going on in every city that has a tribe. She also made the journey out to Boston for Summit this year, running the stairs at Harvard Stadium and then racing in the relay the next day (which was a BEAST of a Mountain). Both of those things are impressive on their own, doing it back to back; well done. She wears grassroots gear to everything (although not in this picture, oddly enough) and she’s been deserving of the award for a long time; congratulations Kristjana. read more

Wisconsin notes:

  • yearbook photos happened
  • PR day next week, last day for the recruiting challenge
  • lululemon announcement/free stickers

We took yearbook photos this morning, huge thanks to Celia. It was really fun to see everyone dressed up in their interpretation of what being Canadian means to them. The D-day is June 6th for when those pictures will be coming out, same with the rest of the tribes across the planet. read more

One for the core members (YWG)

Wisconsin notes:

  • Shaw Park workout this morning
  • Bernie wins Shabooya (again)
  • Shout out to the core members
  • Yearbook pics next week- wear something Canadian

Today, Mark was the first to show up, and as he walked up to where Megan, Rick, Tom and I were, I mentioned to them how the tagged shirt helps to highlight who the core members are (the left-facing golden boy, we recently changed it to face right). This made me think of a blog post idea; one for the core members. read more

Guest blog by Miss. Laine (YWG)

Wisconsin notes:

  • Guest blog by Kristjana
  • Dom wins the Positivity Award
  • Recruiting Challenge starts next Wednesday
  • Workout on Friday and every Friday at the Legislative Building

Today we have a guest blog by our very own Kristjana. Before we get into that, we’d like to give a shout out to Dominique Daoust, the Positivity Award winner today. She’s been deserving of it for quite some time, and the tribe knows it. Which is why she’s already won the Shabooya twice, thus prolonging her quest to win the PA. Dom shows up every week with a sly grin on her face, a big hug, a grassroots tagged shirt, and a determination to be at the front of the pack at every workout. She’s not from Winnipeg, she’s from Ottawa, and she has embraced the Winnipeg life since moving here. She shows up to the NP social events and the extra workouts, and she’s always there for her NP friends. She’s also really fast, repping the tribe at races. Congrats Dom, keep crushing.  read more

Take on me, take me on (YWG)

Wisconsin notes:

  • Canada-wide Sebastian challenge- we clearly won
  • Danielle Pahud- Shabooya!
  • Dance off by Rick
  • Crowd surf by Rick
  • Pop-up this Friday- 7am at the Legislative Building- recruit everyone
  • Canada Day- it’s going down
  • Summit
  • MEC race coming up

Alright alright alright. I feel like I haven’t written a blog in a while. This morning was great, I was sick the last couple of weeks so I missed a workout, and had no voice or lungs for last week. It’s good to be back on track. I figured it was a great time to serenade you with some ‘Take on me’ (or is it take me on?). Taking on the rest of the Canadian tribes in the 7-minute of burpees challenge (known as Sebastians) was a great start to the workout. Congrats to Jamie for firing off 118 in 7 minutes. We didn’t do the math, but I think our average was somewhere between 50-100 per person, so that’s also a win. read more

Wisconsin Notes:

  • New Co-Leader- Megan!!!
  • Puke-cries at Sunrise
  • Marina wins Shabooya (after being called out in the We Missed You post last year)

Today, we introduced our newest addition to the NP Winnipeg leadership crew. What does this mean? Why four leaders? Well, Tom starts his residency this summer, and he knows that when that time comes, it is unlikely he’ll be able to give the tribe the attention it needs and deserves. We decided to have a transition plan, instead of an abrupt leader change like the other tribes, because we are Winnipeg and we do shit the cool way. We also wanted to make sure Megan would be introduced before Summit, so that she could make the trip with us and meet all of the other leaders. Summit is where a lot of cool #leaderstuff happens; you leave feeling inspired and motivated, with new ideas for how to improve your own tribe’s experience. read more

Work hard and earn it YWG)

IMG_0095Wisconsin notes:

  • Tabata Tom is back, and the river is up, affecting our tataba circuit
  • Kelly Cowan earned that Shabooya, woot woot
  • Bridge Sprints
  • Rick is away
  • Tom and Nadia making magic happen

Today was an interesting one. It was one of those workouts we had to adapt on the fly. Who would have thunk the river would be so high already? We did not expect the river walk to be under water, and then trying to get off the walkway, we got trapped by all the fences they had up. Thanks everyone for being great sports about it and not falling on the ice. read more

Wisconsin Notes:

  • Race Recap
  • Thank you to everyone who made it possible
  • Winnipeg is Winter

Simply put, yesterday was pretty damn cool. When you think about it, how many 5k races on skates do you know of? Winnipeg is a winter city, why not embrace it and not just accept it, but appreciate it? The vibe at the race was something else. The start of the race was hilarious and intense. The conditions were perfect. The food was unreal. The HYPE was real. read more

Don’t forget the hype (YWG)

Wisconsin notes:

  • The Great Skate is this Sunday. Just show up
  • Badges earned
  • Radio Canada nous aime
  • Accountability and recruiting

The Great Skate is this Sunday. So far we have 185 people registered. It’s going to be huge. We need you to show up and represent November Project on the day. Why? Because more than half of the registrants have never been to November Project, and this is our chance to get them to join the cult, I mean movement. But seriously, wear your grassroots even if it’s just a T-shirt under your jacket that you can show off during the brunch. And don’t forget the hype!!! HYPE!!! Hype Everything. read more

The Great Skate; Origins (YWG)

jan 18-1

Wisconsin notes:

  • Keep hyping The Great Skate; register!
  • Mush pot
  • Lunges and NP Challenge
  • Shabooya- Fast John

Is it just me, or was everyone really givin’ er today? You all crushed the NP Bridge Challenge. John extra crushed it, he was the first one done and he did the GTFO level. He is always pushing and motivating, making us all work a little bit harder. That guy is crazy fast, and even when he’s zipping along he never seems out of breath; he’s there yelling encouragement as he cruises by. So he is well deserving of the Shabooya award, presented by Car-hel (this is how we pronounce Carl now, no other way). read more
