Cold and dark? Nahhh (YWG)

Wisconsin notes:

  • Winnipeg- is great
  • The Great Skate- Feb 4th
  • So is the World Record attempt by Chain for Change
  • Coach Scott- Shabooya!
  • Legs- dead

This morning’s bounce was inspired by an unfunny promo video made by the San Jose Sharks prior to their game in Winnipeg wherein they talked about how Winnipeg was their least favourite city to play in. Karma can be swift though, and they lost soundly to our beloved Jets. As a Winnipegger, I took great offence to those clowns taking jabs at our city. Paul Maurice had some great lines when asked about the video; (and I’m paraphrasing) ‘Cold? Yep, that happens in the winter, especially in Canada. Dark? Yep, that happens at night, everywhere…’ But then I like my humour like I like my cold weather; very dry. read more

Highlight Reel 2017 (YWG)

On Megan’s suggestion, I listened to Stuart McLean’s final Vinyl Cafe Christmas Edition from December 2015 earlier this week. It ended with a cover of John Lennon’s ‘So This Is Christmas’ and the lyrics got to me; and so this is christmas, and what have you done, another year over, and a new one just begun… It reminded me that the year is coming to an end, and of course I related it to November Project- what have we done this year? read more

We’ve got your fire (YWG)

I’ve been wanting to snap a group photo by this cauldron for a long time now. We received some feedback today about how it was thoughtful of us to plan the workout where it was so that we’d be a bit more protected from the wind, because it was a cold one. While that was in our thoughts, we mostly just wanted to include this cauldron. All morning, I had the lyrics of Jenn Grant in my head; ‘I’ve got your fire, I’ve got your fire, I’ve got your fire…’ (in my head I always hear the last one as ‘I’ve got you fired up’). read more

Hi Friends! It’s been a little while. Seeing your smiling, bundled up faces warmed my heart so much this morning. First winter workout back at NP? Check. Maybe this year I can tough it out through a -31 workout and actually earn my weatherproof badge. read more

NP is Global (YWG)

‘There is nothing permanent except change’ -Heraclitus of Ephesus

NEWS:

Global News- Megan

Global News- Derek

Global News- Jamie and Colin

This morning left me feeling motivated and inspired. After I scraped an inch of ice off my windshield and made it to the workout with minutes to spare, I was sure it would be a small turnout. You all proved me wrong. Not only did you show up in numbers, you filled the back seat of my car with gear for the ‘Koats for Kids’ drive. Thank you for being there, and for giving back to the community. read more

we missed you duha (YWG)

This isn’t actually a ‘We Missed You’ post; Rick has never broken a verbal. But next week will be his last week as a co-leader of November Project Winnipeg, and we will miss him. I’m a little upset that we never got to write him a proper ‘We Missed You’ post, but it’s testament to his work ethic and character that he’s never missed. Oh well, here’s a photo he left on my phone. read more

Turkey Burpees (YWG)

Alright alright alright, listen up listen up listen up.

Rick is back from hiking the West Coast Trail with his fiancé, and he bounced a bounce that was extra bounce-ful this morning. The playlist by Casey was fire, and we got a little dance party going in between work out sets. We kicked it old school with the wooden bridge gauntlet, and I think everyone got a good sweat on this morning. We also did a lot of burpees. Nice. read more

Food for thought (YWG)

Wisconsin notes:

  • Food drive for Wpg Harvest was a success today; last day for it is this Friday
  • Hype-man races, PR day and shirt tagging happened
  • Paige- Positivity Award winner hands down
  • NP social night- Thursday, October 19th, lock it in!

As part of the #NPgivesback campaign, we decided to run a food drive for Winnipeg Harvest. We thought the timing was great with Thanksgiving coming up, and it was great to see how much everyone donated to the cause. If you forgot today, you can still bring an item Friday morning to the Ledge! read more

Wake me up when September… begins (YWG)

It was cold and dark when my alarm went off this morning. I was away for two weeks in a country a little further north (Reykjavik is the northernmost capital in the world apparently), so I was used to it being light out at 5am. It was colder and darker than I expected it to be here, and it was a struggle to get out of bed and get to the workout. read more

You make me wanna shout

Wisconsin notes:

  • Wet and wild workout today
  • Sunrise 6K this Friday, 6am at the duck pond
  • Junel wins Shabooya and takes epic selfie with the tribe
  • Hugs and high fives

Today was a wet one, and it was a ton of fun. We made the decision last night that if it wasn’t absolutely pouring rain, we’d stay out of the parking garage, do the workout as planned and finish with some time trials. Everyone left pretty soaked with mud splatters up their back, but everyone had a big smile on their face. Worth it. read more
