I’m up before sunrise, and my self-zipping pants zoom over and put themselves on my legs. The toilet-bot follows me around while I get ready for November Project.
“Evacuation complete,” it says as it turns around and begins brushing my teeth.
“Do you really have to use the same mechanical arm?” I think to myself as it finishes and puts itself away in the invisible cupboard.
Find Your Strength, and What the F*ck is a Waiver?
I’m gonna puke.
I’m gonna pass out.
I’m not gonna make it to the end of this workout.
Race man, ladies and gentlemen! Fuckin’ Raceman!
No workout gets me as exhausted as Raceman. I find myself getting through that first 5 minute block ok, second one alright, and then the third one hits. That rumbling as your stomach begins to revolt.
NP is a Closed-off, Clique-ridden mob.
I’ve heard it a lot.
“It’s too hard to get ‘in’ with these people.”
“They’re so clique-y.”
“It’s too intimidating to show up by myself!”
Guys. I’m gonna tell you right now all of this is grade A bullshit. And I think everyone that shows up all the time would agree. See, they’re agreeing…
RAIN DANCE!!
“Rain, rain, go away. Come again anoth—hah! Just kidding. We’re #weatherproof.” – Actual tweet I twittered last June.
It’s days like today that make November Project what it is.
Race day.
Pouring rain.
Loads of people up before the sun, hootin’ and hollerin’ at who-knows-what.
I got a text last night from Capoz: “It’s supposed to downpour tomorrow! Fuck yeah! I love wet stadiums!” As he and all other core NPers know, rainy stadiums are when magic happens. The “What the hell am I doing here?” vibe kicks in earlier, but you look to your neighbor and see their huge smile with rain dripping down it. The size of the group gets smaller, but somehow the FUCK YEAHs are louder, the hugs are warmer, and the racing is fiercer. You dance. On #weatherfull days, the weird comes out of the woodwork and the tribe thrives. Sometimes it’s hard to put your finger on it–it’s a vibe, an electricity. Sometimes it’s pretty obvious…
THIS IS A FIRE DRILLLLL!!!!
You all were on FIRE today. Not literally… but hot damn. There were a lot of sweaty bodies makin’ it happen out there, and luckily due to our frequent “FIRE DRILL!!!!” practices, no one got hurt. You know… when you all bring it like that it makes it really easy to understand why it’s worth it to give the middle finger to your snooze button when your alarm goes off at god-knows-when-oclock and just show up.
