MICHELLE! MY NAME IS MICHELLE ANDI HAVE BEEN GOING TO NP FOR OVER A YEAR NOW AND I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE A TIME WITHOUT IT! LIKE WHAT EVEN WAS LIFE?? I lOVE NP IT’S CULTURE AND THE PEOPLE SO MUCH MY HEART COULD BURST! I LOVE THE CHALLENGE, THE FUN, THE COMMUNITY AND I LOVE THAT YOU CAN JUST SHOW UP AND BE YOURSELF!
WAIT WHY AM I SHOUTING ?? IS THS THING EVEN ON?? CAN YOU HEAR ME??
Shoot sorry, I am always SHOUTING. That’s right I like to think of myself as the NP cheerleader- that’s self-appointed but this is my story so I can be whatever I want till it’s over. I love being the CHEERLEADER. I love to high five, I love whooo hoooing I also love burpees (okay that’s a lie and I went too far there) but my favourite part is the hugs. Give me all the hugs, ALL THOSE SWEATY WE WORKED SO HARD AND HAD SO MUCH FUN HUGS!!! GIVE ME GIVE ME!!
Okay so A little about me: I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON, I DO NOT REALLY LOVE FITNESS OR WORKING OUT, I AM NOT OF ATHLETIC STATUE, AND I DO NOT RUN FOR FUN ON THE WEEKENDS OR EVER FOR THAT MATTER. Soooooooooooooo when my dear friend Justina told me about this “November project” group and invited me to come I IMMEDIATLEY looked up the group on social media and began my judgments. Look at this guy he’s full of muscles (Kwame) look at that guy he runs for fun you can just tell (Steve) Look at that powerhouse (ROZ) and the list went on and on and on. CLEARLY this was a fitness group (DUH??) I then said “please show me please ONE out of shape person who might be last with me” My Insecurities were real and no one wants to go join a free fitness group feeling like they won’t fit in, or can’t keep up, or not fast enough. Maybe even npt capable of doing some things.. LIKE NO ONE!
WAIT WHAT??!! DID I JUST SAY FREEEEEEEE FITNESS???
For real though do SOME OR ALL these reasons sound familiar to you? Yup, they are the ones I hear all the time when people ask we what I am always shouting about, why my clothes are spray painted and why I am always doing cool shit with cool people all the time….
WELL BACK TO THAT ….So obviously Justina used her November project super powers on me and I agreed to go. The truth is she couldn’t put aside my insecurities because they belonged to me so the only person standing in my way of trying something new and possibly cool wassssssss ME!! Okay Justina let’s do this!!! Let’s #justshowup and I am going to do me. Imma going to walk when I want, if I don’t want to do push ups from my knees then Im not gunna, if I need to take a knew while planking then I’m gunna, like I am coming but I am doing the Michelle modification got it??
HOLY CRAP GUYS I AM TELLING YOU WHEN I GOT OUT TO THAT GROUP OF PEOPLE MY LIFE CHANGED. LIKE REALLY REALLY REALLY CHANGED.
Sounds weird I know you are like how is this possible and this girl is being a bit dramatic…but not the case. FIRST I was already crushing goals because I made it out of bed and down to the sails by 629am- that’s already 1 point. THEN they had this really funny cool chant and people where bouncing and shouting – obviously my kind already. Then they said you all good? And everyone shouted F**k yeah real loud and I am not sure why but man did that speak to me.( PS Swearing is very impactful, also my jam!) We are already at 3 points here and we haven’t even started.
Well crap then we started the workout which lucky for me friends was PR day (personal record day) Oh that day is full of you guessed it people RUNNING like the things people do for fun on the weekends. I deducted some points in my mind for sure because at that time I could run zero amount and my body actually wanted me to run into oncoming traffic.
BUTTTTTTT the encouragement, the high fives, the fact that people stopped to walk with me, talk with me, give me the push made me realize HOLY SHIT this is epic. These people don’t even know me and they are literally carrying me on their backs with their positivity and phrase and look at me miss oh I hate fitness crushing goals and killing it.
I WAS HOOKEDDDDDD! LIKE HO-O-O-O-O-K-E-D-D-D-D!
As the Wednesdays kept coming I kept going and things started to get fun, card games, jenga, scavenger hunts. Exercise was fun! HUH? WHAT?? the people OMG the people. THE PEOPLE!!!!
Roz and Steve are like poster children of all things good in the world and the community.
If I could squish those two into a little ball and carry them on a key chain I would 100 percent! Their Hype is real. They are real!!!
OHHHHHHH ANDDDDD I haven’t even mentioned the social events holy crap I haven’t had this much fun since I was in my 20’s and trust me when I say that was a longggg time ago. OHHHHHH AND THE COMMUNITY EVENTS WE TAKE PART IN…. AMAZINGGGGG COMMUNITY IS EVERYTHING!!
AND OH CRAP I ALMOST FORGOT ABOUT MY FAVOURITE PART… COFFEE AFTER THE WORKOUT.
You were probably wondering how I knew these people were actually awesome humans.YASSSSSSSSS we go for coffee after the workout and we chat. Everyone is invited that’s the cool part. We are all there for the same reason doing the same crazy things pushing ourselves to be better, do better and crush it! No one is last and everyone is welcome! Accountability and positivity goes a long way my friends!

YOU NEED TO GO TO NOVEMBER PROJECT 629 AM AT THE SAILS DOWNTOWN EVERY WEDNESDAY AND YES ALL THROUGH THE WINTER MONTHS.
