Weatherproof (PVD)

The forecasts for this week called for rain, and rain was had.  In fact, “rain” doesn’t describe the amount of precipitation that took place.  Deluge seems a bit more accurate, because things got floody.

The sky leaked a little a lot

It was the type of day where you wake up, see the weather, and think “I’ll stay home.” Which was a terrible choice, frankly.  Because the rain made it SO.  MUCH.  FUN.

Before running the Boston Marathon this year, someone told me “The thing about rain is you can only get so wet.” Once you embrace that, fun happens.  And that is exactly how this week went.

Special guest Dani Kruger, the Co-leader of November Project Chicago, led us in the loudest bounce in the history of the Providence Tribe, and the HYPE was made even more incredible because of the flood waters that took over our part of the State House.

Did you play it safe? Did you decide to stay dry? You missed out on something special.  Want to know how to avoid that? BE WEATHERPROOF.

Life isn’t always easy.  We get upset, people get upset at us, we have bad days, we have good days, we have in between days.  But we weather the storm of it.  Choosing to show up in the rain, snow, cold, dark, whatever – it builds your mental and physical resilience.  It makes you capable of even more than you thought possible.  We strive to be weatherproof in all facets of our lives.  So instead of sleeping in on a crummy day, grab a rain jacket, keep a change of clothes in the car, and come join in some of the most memorable days you’ll get the chance to have.  Just show up.  It’ll be worth it.

STUFF HAPPENING!

Our fearless Co-Leader, Holly Bubier (bib #541), and her boyfriend, our PR Day Rockstar Jack Pettine (bib #1293), are taking on IronMan Old Orchard Beach this weekend. A 70.3 mile course, they’ll undertake a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and a 13.1 mile run.  Send them your love and support leading up to Sunday, and then TRACK THEM on the IronMan site on Sunday morning.  They’re going to do amazing things.

Getting ready to crush it! Good luck Holly and Jack!

Sunday 8/26: Fierce Running Festival!: Come and run a 5k, 10k, or 10 miler! Tribe Member Brian Heil puts on this race in memory of his daughter, Shannon Heil, who was taken from us far too soon.  We will NOT be having a pop up workout Sunday, so come down to Quonset and run, volunteer or support the runners!

Wednesday 8/29: PR Day! Your goal is 40 sections of stairs, with a 40 minute time cap.  Is it your first PR Day? Maybe you goal is 20 sets, or 25, or even just one.  We are here to help give you that push to get your best results, and build this awesome community even more.

SPECIAL REQUEST FOR WEDNESDAY!

This is for your 6:27am squad members.  As summer draws to a close, as back-to-school happens, we want to take as BIG a group picture as possible.  Come out for 6:10, and let’s get a FULL TRIBE PHOTO!! We will also be giving out the Positivity Award too! Don’t miss out! Tell everyone!
