The Dog Days of Summer

Wednesday was National Spoil Your Dog Day and we made sure everyone was prepared to spoil their pups in the only way we know how….with a barking good workout!!!

To start things off, give your body a good warm up. We played some fetch, but get your body moving for a few minutes. A bit of a walk, run, jumping jacks…whatever works for you!

Alright, now we’ve got Round 1. We’re going to be doing some of our favorite “tricks”. You’ll do each of these moves for 40 seconds and then take a 20 second break. Move through the circuit 3 times. Here’s what we’re doing.

STAY – Run in place, High knees, or buttkicks. Basically, just moving in place.
ROLL OVER – Hip Dips
SPIN AROUND – Squat 180’s (drop into a squat, and explode up and spin 180* either with a step or a jump)
PLAY DEAD (LIFTS) – Single Leg Rear Deadlifts. For this one, you’ll do 40 seconds on your right leg, take 20 seconds of rest and then do 40 seconds on your left leg and take another 20 seconds of rest before you circle back to the top of the circuit.

Grab a drink of water because we’re heading into Round 2. This is our Agility round and we’re climbing our Agility Ladder. For round 2, you’ll do exercise A for 1 minute, then exercise B for 1 minute, and exercise A for 1 minute. Then exercise C for 1 minute, exercise B for 1 minute, exercise A for 1 minute. Finally you’ll do exercise D for 1 minute, exercise C for 1 minute, exercise B for 1 minute and exercise A for 1 minute.

The moves…
A) Side Plank with Rotation (Switch sides every time you get to exercise A)
B) Skaters or Curtsey Lunges
C) Push Ups
D) Breakdancers

Towel off because we’re going to see how well you remember your tricks from Round 1. Go back through and this time, you’ll do each move for 1 minute without the rest in between. You’ve got this!!!!

Still begging for more?? Allright, here’s a final Burnout. Pop on the song “Who Let The Dogs Out” and hold a plank. Everytime you hear the word “Dog”, reach back and do a Down Dog Toe Tap on each foot.

And as a special treat, make sure you have the very best day. Enjoy these smiling faces and make sure to get your high fives!!
