Biggest Turning Point in my Life: Last summer, I realized I needed to change. I was at a low point mentally that affected me in pretty much every facet of my life. When you have depression, it’s kind of like living underwater where the world around you is obscured but the thoughts in your head are amplified. The way I coped with these episodes was to mentally checkout, go on autopilot, and ride it out until I was able to surface to my normal state. But, by mindlessly going through the motions too often, I really felt like I lost my sense of who I was. Even though I am very fortunate to have family, friends, and a very strange little dog here in Atlanta who have all helped me over the years (whether knowingly or unknowingly), I recognized that I needed to make more of an effort to grow and get out of my comfort zone. I wanted to be true to myself but do it in a way where I become more kind, more positive, and more available to others. read more

Tribe Member Spotlight (ATL) – Benjamin Nantasai

Benjamin Nantasai

Hometown: Chiang Mai – Thailand
(My family moved to Seattle, WA area when I was a late teen and I went to college in a small town called Pullman across the state at Washington State University (WSU). Right after grad school, I got a unique job position in the concrete design space with company in ATL, so they moved me to the Hotlanta right around the middle for 2016. And because I grew up in Thailand, I secretly love the heat and humidity 😅! read more

Atlanta’s Energizer Bunny – Jamey Gigliotti

Before November Project Atlanta came to be, we were Fitlanta, and at the helm of planning our crazy workouts (while some were more complicated than we could fathom at 6:27am) was Jamey Gigliotti.

Winner of the Positivity Award was a no-brainer! Jamey puts his heart and soul into NP!

It’s safe to say that the only reason why Jamey is not ATL’s Tribe Leader is because he is off, moving away to Portland for a new job with Intel. He recently graduated with his Ph.D. from Georgia Tech, but even before December, he had landed this job. read more

Two People Shorten the Road: From Dublin to Atlanta

At today’s workout we said farewell for now to our dear friends Joe and Niamh. Our sweet Irish couple must return home to Dublin, but fingers crossed that they return to their ATL Tribe!

Joe and Niamh first showed up in the early days when we were pledging and known as Fitlanta. These two are the model for the nicest couple you could ever meet. They were willing to try new things, make new friends, and always making it to basically every workout Atlanta had to offer. They first learned of November Project at an evening run club when some annoying guy name Christian kept talking about some 6:30am workout outside. Finally after a few weeks of persuasion they showed up to their first bounce. Funny what happens when you #justshowup and strangers become family after a few #sweatyhugs read more

A Can of Whoop Ass

Tis’ the season for giving!

We decided to be like old ladies who work out in their houses, or moms who read Good Housekeeping and use canned goods as weights for this morning’s workout. Our tribe members came laden with Campbell’s soup cans, Green Giant vegetables, Bush’s baked beans… (we’re giving these brands some serious PR!) We told them it was for a donation drive, and then told them we were using them to work out first. And really, we delivered a can of Whoop Ass! (well, lots of cans!) read more
