It’s a scary time in Atlanta…. when the forecast says “SNOW.” I mean, let’s remember the 2014 #Snowpacolypse that hit the city and had every other city laughing…

Okay, now that we got that out of the way, we can proudly say this time around Atlanta faired much better. When it does snow in Atlanta, you don’t expect it, so no matter where you’re from – transplant from Boston or Minneapolis, or born and raised in Atlanta – you feel giddy. Snow just feels weird in Atlanta. And with snow, you feel like a kid again.

A storm of fun, laughter, and love took over Atlanta.
We had planned a Tug-o-War event with a local gym, expecting the weather would be frigid, but nothing more. But the Friday before our Tug-o-War event, the snow came down hard, sending people home from work early to bunker down in their homes. The gym quickly cancelled, deeming the weather unsafe for outdoor activities. But for the tribe leaders, there was no question… no way are we cancelling this! “Can you imagine the shit we’d get from the other tribes if we cancelled for one inch of snow?” Jamey said. #weatherproof we are! Plus, most tribe members walk, run, or ride their bike to the workouts, so the excuse of dangerous roads was never really a scare for us.

Saturday ended up being a beautiful sunny day. More than four inches of snow blanketed some areas, but the roads were drivable and the entire Atlanta community seemed to be out and about – sledding, walking building a snowman, and enjoying the rare snow.
We plotted our route through one of the most crowded parts of Atlanta – Piedmont Park and the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail. We randomly stopped in three different crowded areas and started a tug-o-war battle: three matches for best of three. For round one, people would just watch us, some confused, some taking photos, some wishing they could join.

And so for rounds two and three, we would call out – “Who wants to join? We need another team member!” Random people would jump in the competition. They then would ask, “What is November Project?” Our response would come with a smile and a hug as we said “Join us on Wednesday and Friday mornings for more fun!” At every location, we made new friends who joined in on the fun and listened to us share the story of November Project.

Shout out to Colby, who met us at our first stop and stuck with us for most of the event before he had to go home. He had faith in us that we would be fun, and we hope we didn’t let him down! Colby- We hope to see you out on Wednesday!

Our last tug-o-war competition was between tribe leaders, and for the three way competition, Christian took home the gold! First off, he brutally tugged Alexa to the ground and dragged her through the snow.
Then he conquered Jamey, still weak from Mono, to pull him over the line for another victory.

Just kidding… Christian was not that intense, but he did win. Enjoy the victory because Alexa’s coming for you for our recruitment challenge!
We ended the competition in true NP form with some brews and bread breaking. Thank you to Wild Heaven Beer for always hooking us up with awesome tasty beer! We told jokes, shared stories, played games, and watched Christmas movies. Its these moments where we really bond and it makes us grateful for the people who make this movement so special.
Merry Christmas NP’ers!
