Decks Out for Harambe (IND)

I feel like I’ve entered Joey-Mac’s mind with all the “pulled our decks out” innuendos I’m tempted to drop in this blog post, but since I’m going to be a fully-sworn in professional in three weeks, I’ll just say that we pulled out our shiny new, clean decks and let all the whole tribe flip them around while getting a nice sweat on for about half an hour.  There.  It’s out of my system.

As an aside, I will say that fortunately there was no splurging involved with these decks as we got hooked up with them for free, no cost.  No splurge decks used for a semi-long, hard group sessions with some strangers first thing in the morning; what more can you ask for??!!  And though the decks were 1/4 spaded, many were still left expecting . . . lots of clubs instead, clubs being burpees, not push-ups or squat jumps or leg raises (see below).  All in all, the climax probably came at the end of the deck workout with everyone feeling absolutely elated with having done it.

*Workout:

The always popular group workout is as follows:

Teams of 5 (or 6) each start at separate stations at different corners of the war memorial.
Each station has a deck of cards, and those at the station keep flipping the cards and doing the corresponding workouts until their team member from the previous station comes and shoots them because someone got into their cage relieves them so they can then run to the next station.
Spades = Push-ups
Clubs = Burpees
Diamonds = Squat jumps
Hearts = Leg Raises

Apparently these were all subject to interpretation anyway, so maybe that’s why there seemed to be so many burpee cards in each deck….
The number of reps each squad did depended on the number on the card.  Flip, rinse, and repeat.
Running filled the gaps between workout stations, except for the two close to each other on the north side.  Tribesppl lunged between those.

*Note: If this Decks Out workout seems eerily similar to the All Decked Out workout, it’s not.  They’re definitely completely different and dissimilar workouts.

Notes:

  • We’re working to keep the sister city love strong with little things like our shoutout to San Fran’s positivity award winner.  We’ll be doing stuff like this off and on to keep the connection strong and growing.
  • Be on the lookout for that latest J-Keys video drop giving a shoutout to all 31 tribes and highlighting the two newbie tribes.  Jason Keys routinely kills it with his NP_IND hype videos.  NP royalty has noticed, and now the NP world will get the full J-Keys experience!
  • Thanks Jaden for the pics!
  • Friday’s workout will be at 6a at the northernmost end of the canal (that canal cul-de-sac area down by the IU Health buildings).
  • Cheer on the racers here in Indy and up in Wisco this weekend!

Have a stellar week everyone!
