Fall is finally here and that means marathon season is upon us. As many of you know we have been assigned a cheer station this Saturday for the Kansas City Marathon. Our specific location will be at the corner of 47th and Broadway. We’re not sure what the parking situation is going to be like so below is a link of the race course map. Choose wisely because you could end up trapping yourself inside the course and have a tough time getting out when it’s time to leave. We would love to have as many of you out there as possible supporting all the runners, including our fellow NPKC tribe members. The race organizers would like us there by 7 am at the latest but if you could there around 6:45 am that would be ideal. Please bring any noise makers, sign, costumes, or miscellaneous items that will add to the craziness we’re going to have! Also, feel free to bring your choice of beverages, coolers, snacks, & chairs cause we’ll be hanging out there for a bit. We’re not quite sure but if there’s enough interest we may do something in the late afternoon or early evening after the race. Thinking drinks and food, but we’ll keep you posted on the social site. Should you have any questions feel free to send us a FB message!
1st Birthday, KC Marathon Cheer Station
Our first in existence has been pretty outstanding! If you’ve ever come to a workout or are new you will not want to miss out on our first ever B-Day celebration this Wednesday at 5:30 am & 6:30 am. There will be cake, hats, #freefitness, and any other assortment of items that you tribe members decide to bring. Feel free to bring anything that you would like to share. For those who are free afterwards join us for an 8:00 am breakfast (the location will be announced at the workout).
NP Boston Our Sister Tribe/ The North Face T-Shirt Design Contest

Everything has been a blur since NP Summit 4.0. One of the things that came out of summit was that each tribe was assigned a sister tribe for the next 6 months. What does that mean? We’re not sure right now but we do know that #NP_KC got the luck of the draw with the MOTHERSHIP, NP Boston. Tomorrow we will be dropping a box full of goodies (see a preview above), thanks to some of our AWESOMELY WONDERFUL tribe members, in the mail that represent our wonderful city. When those items arrive the leaders of Boston (Emily Saul, Chris Payne, Chris Capozzi) will decide where those fantastic products go. Maybe they’ll keep it all, maybe they’ll give it all away, maybe they’ll make their tribe members work for it. That is the beauty of being a co-leader, they get to decide. What we encourage you to do during these 6 months is to get to know the tribe over social media. Stalk the leaders, stalk tribe members, and if you feel so inclined send them a hello video. This next half of the year is going to be a blast!
The November Project Summit 2016 – Plan, Hype, & General Expectations
The #NPSUMMIT, for those of you who have never been, is the biggest NP gathering that takes place only once a year. The weekend has an energy that is unmatched and has grown into a homecoming feel that Co-Leaders and members all get to share. What started as a way to get all the of leaders around one table back in 2013 has grown into something bigger and better than we could ever imagine. The November Project Summit will not disappoint. Join us.
GMA IN NEW YORK – Important Update
In true NP fashion, the bat signal for the tribe members to attend GMA was answered swiftly and in massive numbers. Which is both great as we know that the tribe is willing to do anything on the drop of a dime, and not so great, as it has scared our friends at GMA who have access to a limited space in the Times Square to produce their daily show. So we need to scale down. By a lot. What’s a lot? 30. 30 thousand? No, 30 people. Total. If you want a chance to be one of these 30, please read the following CAREFULLY.
29 Tribes Strong
Today is a new day, which began with 30 tribes and will end with 29.
Recently it was brought to our attention that Freddy Garcia, one of the leaders of NP MIA, has done something in his past which was hard for us to ignore. After very careful consideration and numerous conversations with Freddy, his co-leaders, and members of the November Project Miami tribe, we respectfully asked him to step down from the leadership position and participate in the workouts as a tribe member. This was an incredibly difficult decision to be made and not one that was made lightly. Freddy is extremely proud of the community he helped build and has made the decision that if he is not the leader of the group, then the Miami tribe will no longer carry the November Project name.
Calling all tribe members!
Dear free fitness fighters,
Just over a year ago, a call sent out to tribe members asking for help taking photos. Up in Canada, we had two extremely generous people put up their hands. I cannot begin to tell you how big a role they have played in the growth of our tribe. They’re never in the photos because they’re always taking them. The tribe is getting so many amazing photos because of them. And as leaders, we have been able to spend more time on creating better workouts. Take a look at any of our Facebook albums from the past year. You can see the difference when we have real photographers vs when someone like myself is pretending to know what they’re doing. They put in a lot of work for us to get those photos turned around real quick.
The Endurance Challenge Calendar and NPSUMMIT 4.0
The North Face Endurance Challenge trail race series we hold near and dear to our hearts. From the days of team Cinco de Redtube’s dominating performance at the marathon relay in Bear Mountain 2012, all the way to December of 2015, where hundreds of spray painted chests took on Marin trails and raced in every event offered (including the kids race), November Project has been kicking ass and making friends. This year will be no different… well, maybe bigger.
$5.00 Workout
Despite the rumors,we did not pay people to #justshowup to our workout this week. Well, maybe we did but there was a catch. Thanks to a generous donor we thought we’d spread some #NP_KC love and handout $5 to each tribe member after this week’s workout. The money was definitely “earned,” with temps in the lower twenties it was the first time we tested the definition of November Project #weatherproof. In fact, the stairs at Liberty Memorial were so icy that Tanya had to alter our workout a bit. She’s pretty bad ass so that wasn’t an issue. After a nice circuit workout consisting of mountain climbers, lunges, squats, jumping jacks, and star jumps we lined up for our weekly group pic. Afterwards we handed $5 to each member and explained the only rule: You had to spend it on a complete stranger without anything in return. Our hope is that this creates a little bit of a ripple effect. Brighten someone’s day. Create a smile. Instigate a positive interaction between two people that may have not otherwise happened. To show our tribe members that a small deed can go a long way.
Nuestra Casa Es Su Casa
For our English only speaking friends “Nuestra Casa Es Su Casa” is Spanish for our home is your home. Since the beginning we’ve been fortunate to have tribe members join us from other NP cities across the country. J. Grubbs, Caitlin, and Emma just to name a few, have been coming to our workouts as either transplants from other NP cities, or as visitors who work in KC M-Fri. This past week we had some visitors from NP members who had been traveling the country, and at the same time hitting up workouts as they passed through NP cities. One of those members, Jen, from Madison, WI was on her way from NP Denver on Tuesday when she got stuck in the middle of a blizzard in Goodland, KS and couldn’t make it. The other was Dustin Renwick from NP DC. He’s been traveling across the United States and Canada, and writing a great blog, while hitting up NP workouts across North America (read about his adventure here http://www.operationmonarch.com). Being his last stop we thought we’d give him a little taste of home. Thanks to Steve Christensen, an NP DC co-leader, we threw in some tennis balls and did a little McEnroe workout. We had a blast and hopefully so did he!
