Yesterday morning, Nick put me on the spot at the end of the 0630 workout for parting thoughts at the end of my last workout as a co-leader of #NP_BAL. You would think after three years of standing in front of 100+ people that this would be easy. Yet I don’t do well on the spot, and I’m particularly not good with inspirational words. However, I was pretty happy with what came out, which was something along the lines of “if this morning is your first time, if this whole thing makes you feel weird, then keep coming. We don’t do enough of this sort of stuff in our lives, and that’s the stuff that makes for good stories. So find your ‘yes’ people and stick with them.”read more
The following photo is literally all that you need to know about this morning’s traveling workout at Clifton Park. No amount of words could do justice to the workout more than this photo can. Check out the photo album on the FB page to see the incredible photos that our man Gio captured this morning, and to see one of the many gems that our city has to offer.read more
Last night at 6PM, a group of four women accompanied by scores of other runners (many of them hailing from the NP NYC tribe) began their 250+ mile journey from NYC to Washington, D.C. They will be running, nonstop, for the next three days and arriving in D.C. on Saturday morning in time for the Women’s March on Washington. They have raised over $75,000 for Planned Parenthood, far surpassing their goal of $44,000, which was chosen in honor of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama.read more
Today’s blog is brought to you by the always-lovable Jon Pressimone. My friendship with Jon started over a burrito after Baltimore Bike Party over two years ago; if you know Jon, everything about that start to a friendship makes sense. This past weekend, Jon and the equally-lovable Lilly Siems ran their first marathon in Disneyworld. Here are his thoughts on NP, running, and everything in between.read more
Strong finish to 2016 everyone. I’m now convinced we could put together a pretty strong militia if we needed to; at least we have the charging and yelling down. Does anybody have a spare bayonet we can train with?
Did the NP_PHL crew survive this trip? Pretty sure we killed them with this morning’s workout. It looked like the Lexington & Concord battlefield out there. Yes I’m referencing a Massachusetts battle instead of whatever historical battles took place in Maryland because I’m from Massachusetts and I’m in charge of today’s blog so JUST DEAL WITH IT.read more
The first blog post from your new November Project Baltimore co-leader, Emily Bryson!
WOW. What an electrifying morning.
THANK YOU for showing up and making me feel welcome. It is mutually beneficial, I know. You guys all show up, I get to yell and act like an excited school child (NEWSFLASH…I was), you #earnyourweekend while all your other friends/colleagues/pets are still sleeping. FUCK YEAH.read more
It’s happening. The days are getting shorter and colder. It’s probably dark out when you leave the house, and it may be dark when you get back home. At this point, both the 5:30 and 6:30 workouts on Wednesday are working out in darkness for the entirety of the workout. Friday hills involve straining your eyes for cracks in the sidewalk that, two months ago, were easy to spot when you were getting to the workout at 6:20. Now, you’re watching out for those cracks as you finish your last hill before the group photo at 7:20.read more
I’ll let you in on a little secret: PR Day is a tough day as a leader. You want to be able to do the workout to track your own fitness progress, but your role is to coach and encourage people through their own PR struggles and help them succeed. Then, there’s a matter of tagging. Tagging is a huge part of our identity as a community; you can travel anywhere in the country, and wearing that shirt with “NOVEMBER PROJECT” emblazoned on the chest lets you instantly recognize strangers as family. Since there are only three of us (currently only two while Nick traverses Peru) and lots of shirts each month, we usually turn to you, the tribe, for help with tagging. Yesterday, Sydney put out a request for a little help from our friends. A few of you stepped up to the plate for us:
Adam and Melissa, you rocked it this morning – thank you. But there’s another name on that thread that was unusually absent this morning:
Did you catch it? Here it is again:
Shaun. The little brother that everyone loves to pick on (for good reason, sometimes), but is such a vital part of this community. You have been a consistent tagger in recent memory, even gaining a little notoriety from Melissa who requested assistance with learning how to tag this morning from the legend himself. I can only imagine that you were at home, perfecting your “otherwise-only-seen-in-teenage-girls” duck face:
Cam Newton is a little confused why you chose that face, Shaun.
We can only surmise what kept you away from us this morning, but there’s one thing we do know – WE MISSED YOU.

A few weeks ago, we announced that we had scored some free bibs for the Baltimore Running Festival that we wanted to gift to the tribe. These bibs can be used for ANY race at the festival, which is a pretty sweet deal. Sometimes when we give away things, we do it pretty arbitrarily. But this time, we wanted to see how creative the tribe could get. And thus was born #KNOTTYNP. The gist of this contest was to get a photo of yourself using your running shoes in inappropriate places. That’s it! The rest was up to you.read more
