TEDx, kidz, TEDx (DCA)

Kids are awesome. They say stuff that’s so honest, you can’t help but laugh. They include everyone, because they don’t know to disclude (that might be a made up word) anyone.  They try so earnestly hard, because they aren’t scared to fail.

Some of us have been adulting for a long, long time. Some of us are just learning to adult. Probably a lot of us knock it out of the park adulting one day, and then something will happen and it’ll make us feel like we never knew how to adult in the first place. No matter where we fall on the scale of part-time to professional adult,  we’ve all been not-an-adult before. We were all, at one time or another, very, very small children, who knew absolutely nothing about adulting. We were KIDZ and it was GREAT. read more

The last and final, one after the pentultimate, Monday of every month we will, STARTING TODAY, be at Capitol Hill. It is now great for things that happen outside during un-normal waking hours. read more

Races for DAYS. (DCA)

Some mornings it’s easy to get up and get going in the morning. Other mornings, not so easy. You start moving and think, “Okay, this isn’t so bad. I’m glad I’m out the door. ” You start smiling. You start hugging. And then you forget that you ever hesitated to get out the door in the first place. We say it all the time, and we DO it all the time: #JustShowUp. It rocks. Go ahead and over estimate the power you have to change someone else’s morning, you’ll probably get it just about right. Your positive, attitudes, high-fives, smiles, hugs, sprints (I could go on FORever) are infectious. They’re big. BIG. B-I-G. (B-I-G-G-I-E, oh wait that’s something different.) And they can get a person out the door. read more

Springtime in the City (DCA)

Your alarm went of this morning. (Did you press snooze? Maybe. That’s okay.) Your alarm went off a second time this morning. You opened the window. (Ha, no you didn’t). You opened your weather app. (That’s okay too.)

This morning would have been an easy morning to look at the weather… To look at the weather and think, no, no, NO that can’t be right. Rub your eyes. The digits have been switched. It’s 53 degrees out right? It would have been an easy morning to look at the weather, open the window and yell, “REALLY, DC? REALLY? I cleaned all of my cold weather clothes. They’re folded up. They’ve had their 15 minutes. It’s time for TANKS and TEES and headbands that show off my ears.” read more

Civil Shades of Grey (DCA)

We battled it out. We war cried it out. (Really, seriously, let some sound out there this morning.) We raced it out. Did it rain? If it did, I missed it. This shit is THAT good.

We brought back the Civil War workout this morning. Race 8 Lincoln logs (August), 20 burpees (20th) and 1 Lincoln lap, which is clearly, roughly, somewhere close to 1866 feet (1866). Read between the (lines) for the history lesson. read more
