Blue Monday

Stop the press.  This morning was incredible!!!!

I never get any less amazed when we have sunshine in the sky, 20ish degree weather, and a shit-ton of people out for a 6am workout in the northern tundra of Edmonton!

Guest bounce report : We almost lost a couple people when Rob kicked us off with a 7 minute squat hold…but he totally redeemed himself with 3! yes 3! “Good Morning!”s. (How do you pluralize a quote?)  Thanks Roberto read more

Embrace the Season of Light!!!

Remember how tough it is to drag your ass out of bed in February?!  I do.

Not to bring a Season of Dark cloud into your beautiful day but it’s good to remember just how amazing it is to head to a NP morning after the sunrise has already happened!  Seriously, I had a grin on my face all morning because of it.  Because of the Season of Light’s superiority, now is the time to hit up that family member, friend or work colleague to come join you for a NP morning. read more

Call me?

I remember asking for phone numbers back in my junior high Romeo days…  I would be sweaty, breathing a little hard and hoping that they wouldn’t write a snarky 555-5555 in response.  A lot of similarities to this morning!

Thanks for running us through a killer workout Jen and a self congratulations to myself for remembering how to bounce… read more

Comfort Level (Yeg)

There is a special moment in every relationship when you feel comfortable enough to rip a fart in front of the other person.  When this moment comes, gone are the days of date-long belly aches and abuse of your car seat as you drive away from said date.  All things considered…it’s a good moment. read more

Wooo!

It’s official.  Block workout is my favourite workout of NP Canada.  It has all the elements; simplicity, accountability, you stay warm, safety 3rd (on corners), free tour of the block, etc…  Jen and I got to 12 burpees even though she ran 83 kms. in the snow yesterday.  Impressive stuff, Jen.  To the 1’s of people who read this blog and did not participate in this morning’s workout, call me and I’ll explain everything. read more

OAR

Nadim was a solid 10/10 today.  If you haven’t figured it out by now…He is the most creative, Jen is the most responsible, and I am the most disruptive.  When he gets an opportunity for a workout like today, he is golden. (Like the shiny medals you all earned this morning)

The Olympic Athletes from OAR-handle were victorious in luge, skeleton, freestyle leg drops and speedshoeing this morning.  Our quads were burned out by the time we got to a final round of 4 minute freestyle pairs something-or-other.  To sum up, we and this morning in general, were utterly fantastic.  Thank you Nadim. read more

Badger Bob

Jen set a new -30 badge day record today (54) and we were all grateful that we employed the DBAD rule or we would be broke this year.  It’s the dog days of winter and one of the hardest times of the year to throw the gear on and just show up, so thank you for showing up.  I would never drag my ass out into the morning cold for a solo run and you all are literally the only reason I feel great at 640am on mornings like this.  Sorry for the late blog Jen!  At least I can blame it on work! Have a great weekend!  Monday will be posted soon… read more

This blog is only to help Nadim and Jen in the Winnipeg skate race.

Yes it was a fabulous Friday morning in Edmonton.  We came, we ran, our sweat froze…  Some of our local bad-asses even went for a speed skate after running hills.

We missed our fearless leader and local tourism expert, Nadim, as he goes to represent our tribe in the World famous Winnipeg River Skate Race Thing.  Jen is going as well and I think it might be her 4th time skating, ever.  With our city’s pride on the line, I thought they could use some tips to pull away from the pack.  Go get ‘em kids! read more
