So long, September showers. Hello October in… (Toronto)

Rain, mosquitoes, but plenty of fun! Our month of workouts at Riverdale Park East was definitely an adventure and it was fun to workout in a new space. How were those hills? Now that October is around the corner, we’re excited to let you know that we’ll be venturing out to the west end of the city this time to Trinity Bellwoods Park! Our workouts will be at Trinity Bellwoods Park for the month of October, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 6. We’ll meet at the gates/entrance to the park (near Queen Street and Strachan Avenue).

September Highlights

So now that the location announcement is covered, we wanted to reflect on the month of September. We kicked things off with a Labour Day pop-up workout. Even though there was a torrential storm right before the workout (and a tornado warning!) our small but mighty group was rewarded for being weatherproof. The rain stopped at the beginning of the workout and we were later greeted with sunshine and blue skies.

We held a relay style workout at our first Wednesday workout at Riverdale Park East and our crew sure got competitive with lots of great energy! After counting up the points/tennis balls it ended up being a tie with 25 to 25 (also good to know that we have 50 tennis balls for future workouts)!

Wet weather continued to taunt us the following Wednesday, and while it stopped raining before our workout (yay!) we discovered that there are indeed mosquitoes in Toronto (ouch!). Despite that, NP Toronto got creative with their words and really impressed us at Scrabble (thanks to NP Ottawa for the scrabble tiles!).

Did we have better luck with the weather at the next workout? It was the fifth rainiest day in Toronto in 2021, but that wasn’t enough to keep NP Toronto away! Our crew showed us how to shoot your shot (making use of our 50+ tennis balls) with a healthy dose of burpees, good mornings, in and outs and more. We also learned that you can still get bitten by mosquitoes in the pouring rain (ouch again!).

Finally, for our final workout at Riverdale Park East, there was no heavy rain before or during the workout. We celebrated with our monthly PR day workout.

PR Day at Riverdale Park East! We hope to come back again in the near future.

Rain or shine, mosquitoes or no mosquitoes (preferably no mosquitoes though), thanks to those who were able to continue joining us at Riverdale Park East. We hope that Trinity Bellwoods Park will be just as fun, and maybe a little drier. Overall, as always, we’re glad you’re here!
