Y’all Good? (YEG)

Another week another blog. Another week at home. Another week without high fives from NP. These may be facts but they are a bit negative and to be honest that’s not really who I try to be.

I am the kind of person that likes finding silver linings – probably to a fault but still I try. I can be a pragmatic pessimistic optimist all at the same time right…right?? hahaha. What I am getting at is that I know that what we are going through is hard and I know you know that but I’d rather focus on some of the good. So here’s a list of some of the good around NP/fitness/life that I’ve noticed so far:

  • I see people are paying attention to their bodies more – keep it up!;
  • I’ve been sleeping more;
  • I get to join different NP workouts from across the globe;
  • I can still feel connected to people at a time where it would be easy to feel alone;
  • People seem to smile more when I’m out on a run;
  • I’m learning more about my community and what it takes to be a citizen in it;
  • I’ve seen so many pets and neat houses over Zoom (it has been like a little window into other people’s lives);
  • I can still be goofy with my friends;
  • I’ve talked and learned from people that I hadn’t interacted with before;
  • I feel like my fitness is getting stronger;
  • I talk to my family/friends more;
  • I experiment with new cooking recipes more;
  • I make my self homemade lunches more. ACTUALLY THO, Being able to make grilled peanut butter sandwiches whenever I want is dangerously amazing (also if you’ve never tried this please do so);
  • Doing chores between work meetings makes for more free time; and
  • I feel calmer.

I’m sure I’ll find more in the future but that’s what I got right now. I feel like everyone could make a list like this if asked and if you have the time I’d ask you to take pause and think about your own silver linings. Haha goodness now I sound like a cheesy halmark card – but still, I like reflecting and I think it helps me to grow as a person.

In looking over this list I can say for certain that NP is still a cornerstone of what makes me happy. It is always there when I need even when we are all apart.

Keep your eyes peeled for next week’s blog as there will be more details about our 7th birthday party in it. In the mean time…

Keep being awesome,

Rob

  1. Hi Rob. This was the first time reading your blog. I enjoyed it.. and loved your cheesy, honest & still energetic was awesome!!
    I’ve often wanted to join the early morning runs & activities but conflict with my current work schedule. Do you have evening or weekend runs (when gathers start up again)??
