Upper Bowl Challenge (YEG)

You didn’t wake up for easy!

It’s supposed to be hard. If you left today with shaky legs, feeling slightly pukey, and nervous about how you will move up and down the stairs tomorrow, then you did today right! A 6 AM serving of Commonwealth’s upper bowl is meant to challenge you physically and mentally. It should take your breath away each time you complete an “up”; one, because it is freaking hard to power up those steep sections and two, because the view from the top, with the sun rising in the east, is absolutely breath-taking. I don’t know that there is any other experience that can compare to our Wednesday mornings at Commonwealth (although sunrises from the top of Walterdale Hill are pretty spectacular too).

It doesn’t matter if you are single stepping or double stepping, or if you are power walking or bounding up the stairs. What matters is that you are moving. Moving and giving it your best for the day. Giving a little more than last week, knowing that you’ll be stronger for it and have more to give next week. I mean, if you are going to wake up this early on a Wednesday morning you might as well make the most of it. Us challenging you to the upper bowl today was met with a few wide eyes and quiet groans but I know, whether you admit it or not, you loved the challenge and felt accomplished this morning when time was called. Kudos to you for showing up, working your butt off, taking in the view, sharing your energy, and kick-starting your day by gifting yourself with a challenging morning of stairs!
