The Block is Hot

I have a confession for you, Dear Reader. I consider myself a pretty strong-willed guy, but my resolve is wavering. See, I have yet to turn on the A/C in my home. Yes, the daily highs are rubidium-melting, enough to cause mercury across the valley to liberate itself from thermometers like the chestbuster from Alien. Even the overnight lows are more mirage than oasis. Yet I persist. read more

Race Face, Stace Face (IND)

Howard’s Halfway to Halloween Hoedown Hootenanny was all it was cracked up to be: Super, Wild, Salty, Dirty, Grungy, Pretty, Galactic, Ballerific, American, Boozy, Pollinated, Healthy, and Sweaty. It definitely was not uniCorny. Newbies shined, oldies whined (not really; oldies kicked flucking arse supporting the newbies this morning), and on the feastival he created, Howard dined! Gotta love the added motivational incentive of a pump-up-partner during the Race Day ordeal! read more

Spring Awakening (IND)

HAPPY RACE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Spring has [somewhat] sprung, and so has NP Indy! Dishing out (shhhhhh)irts today, we were worried we’d run out with the solid #raceday numbers that showed, which is a good problem to have. Aside from faster times, greater numbers, more than one person wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts, and less laundry, spring also provides us with a wonderful opportunity to grow our tribe. It’s the time of year where people are craving the outdoors, wanting to get moving again, and most notably looking for sweaty hugs from strangers. Fortunately, we can provide all those things. read more

Sledding through March

A small but determined group showed up this morning to help us through our very first sledding workout. The sleds were fierce and fast. Hill runs were snowy and persistent. Well done & be well. See everyone on Friday.

Wisconsin Notes:

  • Chicago is STILL leading the March Sister City Challenge against PHX and Serbia (#fuckyeah)
  • Sunrise 6k race on 3/22. See you there
  • No celebs have attended workouts yet (see below post)
  • All other info is listed in THIS POST!

All the stars came out this morning. There was Ric Flair and Jessie Meranda and Ric Flair. All of them. All there to support the Big Ten Tournament … in Washington, DC. It’s always about DC; always.

SUICIDES! A little something new cooked up by Jason Shaw, who oddly I don’t see in any of these pics from this morning. read more

    Fleur-de-Lis, Fitness fo Free (IND)

Happy Race Day (and Mardi Gras too I guess) everyone! Fat Tuesday gave way to Fit Wednesday as racers were up early and in it to win it this morning. We had PRs galore, newbies from all over, and attitudes to inspire even the most ardent Race Day protesters (got ya, Howard)!

    Workout

Your typical Race Day buffet: up-n-over, 50 situps, u-n-o, 50 pushups, u-n-o, 50 mtn climbers, u-n-o, 25 burpees (don’t forget ’em; they’re the icing on the cake; it’s a cake made with brawn, power, and might…and love), finish off w a nice cold u-n-o.  A thorough ass-kicking. read more

We love that YOU love NP! YOU are what drives this thing, what keeps it going, what gets people up early and in shape!

    Workout

This one was simple (to tell, not to do): an up-n-over with lunges across the east top platform, burpee-broad-jumps across the west. Boat-holds, valentines-making, and decline pushups at the north platform. read more

    Boyz-(and Girlz)-n-the-Hood(s) (IND)

The boys in the hood may always be hard, but so are the burpees and lunges, maybe harder (at least it feels that way at 6am).DSC_0196

Crew-counting-Colleen was absent today due to “work” in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, but 6:15 was the clear winner numbers-wise. But moving right along into February today means that spring is just around the corner, and spring = recruiting season at NP. There’s still hope, 5:28; keep the faith! read more

    The Washing Machine (IND)

    DSC_0852

This one was fresh. . . fresh to def, fresh linen status, in fact. Shaw hit us up with an original workout coined “The Washing Machine,” and she’s a beaut. We were all newbies for the workout, and we had one oldie we always miss dearly in Macko and one real-life newbie in Brian. Thanks for #justshowup-ing! Weather was decent for January, groups were solid, and Patrick-style hugs were fantastic! read more

    20. 17. Let’s Do It! (IND)

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

No better way to kick things off than by showing that you are absolutely WEATHERPROOF. The temp was low (~20 F), but the real killer factor was the wind, which was just wicked. No worries though; a bunch of badasses #justshowup at these Indianapolis workouts, so let the wind blow, let the storm rage on . . . the cold never bothered us anyway. read more
