4:00AM Wednesday morning, time to rise and grind, get ready for the weekly meeting with the November Project Malaysia tribe. Getting ready to head out, I thought I heard rain on the roof top but we have had this before, light rain before the workout and by the time 5:15AM rolls around it turns to drizzling and eventually stops before we bounce. Thought nothing of it until I opened the front door, this was no usual light Wednesday morning rain, it was a downpour with a strong gust of wind to back it up. My phone started to buzz, messages started to roll in: read more

Eclipse Sunglasses (IND)

PSA: Don’t stare at the sun, but don’t get duped by phony bologna (odd[er] phrase written than spoken) eclipse glasses peddlers; they’ll getcha, much like this workout did most everyone. Woah! What an ass-kicker. And that humidity, it’ll getcha [it’ll’ve gotcha?] too. read more

The Departure Lounge (DCA)

The NPDC community is comprised of ambitious, eager (good-looking) people who are constantly on the hunt for their next challenge. We see folks come and go, cycling through this revolving door of a metropolis often. People come to Washington for jobs, for love, for any multitude of reasons–and they leave for (better) jobs, for grad school, for the allure of a new adventure. One of the facets that makes NPDC exceptionally cool is the tendency of November Project to make people feel rooted and entrenched in our city, when they are brand new to a place. NP has a warmth to it that makes people feel at home; this makes departures all the more difficult. Over the past few weeks we’ve said goodbye to some pure gems, setting them free to spread their wings and flock to other GREAT November Project cities. We miss you, we love you, come home soon.  read more

Is Buffalo WEATHERPROOF?

For the 14 weeks November Project Buffalo has existed, we’ve had nothing but temperatures going up from May through August and no rain. Who knew Buffalo had that nice of weather? Call it our “Wednesday Best Day” vibes, call it luck, call it what you want–but this tribe hasn’t been challenged by the weather. November Project prides itself on being unmessable (it’s a word, ask Baron Baptiste) when it comes to weather. Buffalo has had nothing fall from of the sky except for sunshine and rainbows. read more

PR – Take Two

PR –  take Two.

2nd August marked the 2nd PR for November Project Malaysia.  Due to some confusion in counting during our first PR (suicide uphill between the lamp posts), we have decided to simplify the loops by doing the full hill, which are “A side” of the hill down and up about 1km and “B side” side of the hill down and up about 800 m.  The PR was set to complete 3 loops (A+B side) within 30 mins.  This make life easy as we eliminated the counting post part. read more

A Beautiful Bunch, A’ripe Banana (IND)

Daylight come when you do-a the crunch…-a . . .  “I do the cha-cha like a sissy girl. I lik-a do da cha-cha.” I’m sorry we seem to be having some technical difficulties. In other news . . . [breaks wind].

Here we go; back on track: Workout was great. A few dips, a few trips around the sun, a few hops, and a few push-up drops. E’ry day we were shuffling, and er day we were on a boat crunching. If none of that makes any sense, it either means you weren’t at the workout or I wrote it, or both. read more

Dog Days of Summer (ORL)

Aaaaaaaah, the dog days of summer — bright and oppressively hot. Our commitment is hotter, and we yell, “Bring on the heat!”

NP Orlando, what I love about you is your intense sense to connect — with yourself in the present moment, the workout and, most importantly, each other. read more

Hot. Summer. Butts. (IND)

Boy oh boy, it’s shaping up to be a SCORCHER. Good thing you were wise enough to beat the heat (ish) and pull that sultry body of yours out of bed before the sun! …Butt the moon was still out. Ha-Haa-Haaa-Haaaalarious joke.

Shout-out to the nubes (newbs?) [rhymes with tubes] that absolutely flooded the Memorial this morning! We loved having you guys and hope to see you back next week (Friday too)! Great job on the recruiting front, ladies and gents!! read more

Aftermath of our first PR day

So this week, the Malaysian tribe had our first PR day and boy, was it a success! We hit our elusive 60 and welcomed the most newbies in one single workout. Great job to the tribe for hyping up PR day and brought their friends to experience the joy of November Project.

Because of the nature of our workout location (it is a hill with slopes down each end), we had to come up with a simple way to measure PR and make sure it is still a killer workout. Hence, the co-leaders decided to make it a suicide runs and count PR by the furthest lamp post the tribe can reach before the clock hits 35 minutes. read more
