Sebastian who? (OTTAWA)

Like so many Wednesdays long ago we found ourselves watching human after human make their way towards the Centennial Flame once again. The closer they approached the more you began to crack a smile, maybe opened-up your arms for a warm embrace or held out a hand to be high-fived. To the new faces amongst the group that was one way to kick off an introduction to November Project.

“Hi. Good morning, my name is….

ohh just out of curiosity what can you do in seven minutes?”

Well we’re here to tell you that you can do star jumps, tricep dips, squats, say hello to an RCMP officer or two, raise your calves and tap your shoulders. During the last seven minutes of the workout this morning we called out one final movement that we would be completing for the remaining time, burpees. Better known as Sebastian. It’s seven minutes on the clock of all-out-burpees. You get down to the ground and you get right back up. This is a race against your former self. You are setting a benchmark for yourself of where you finished today. Knowing that this workout will make a reappearance in the near future you have an idea of what to aim beyond. The intention of this last seven minutes was to take you out of your comfort zone. For you to give it your all and have something to hold yourself to, to burn out before the clock strikes 7am. You now have a number of burpees that you completed in those seven minutes. Hold onto that number, remember that number, write it down because know the next time Sebsatian rolls around we’re going to challenge you to get up and down faster than before.

Thank you for sharing all your effort, hugs and smiles with us.

Here’s to bringing soles together,

Lauren and Liz
