Since Alfie the doggo shared his two cents
There have been requests from some ladies and gents
To keep the rhymes flowing for a week or two
(Or until they find some better reading to do)
Well… we are SO excited to be together again
So much so that we had to start at 6am
For what better way is there to start the day
Than alongside the canal for a Sunrise 6k?
In reality the wake up may have been a bit rough
(The three separate alarms were barely enough)
But as we rolled out of bed and tied up our laces
We beamed at the idea of your beautiful faces
It’s been 483 days since we last met
Before we really knew how hard things would get
483 days since we took that last group shot
And went our separate ways without another thought
Then (spoiler alert!) there was this pandemic thing
And holy moly, what complications it did bring
We moved to Zoom – wasn’t that a blast
Not knowing how long this thing would last
But you kept showing up as times grew hard
Whether from a basement, a patio, or a backyard
And because of you we kept having a reason
To get up and move no matter the season
For 68 weeks we met only online
And sure, sometimes that felt perfectly fine
But nothing compares to the real NP
And the wonderful community we’ve come to be
So we hope that you’re ready to come back together
To bounce, lunge, and burpee no matter the weather
Though we will keep distancing by two metres or more
You can bet we’ll be closer than ever before
