Let’s start with the bad news, No Coast 2020 is cancelled. Womp womp. Hurt the Dirt racers will either defer their entry to 2021, or will commit to running their race distance virtually, but at Luton Park in Grand Rapids. Let’s all heave a collective sigh that we won’t be together in person with all our midwest November Project friends, and we won’t be running any races, and then let’s move on to the good news.
NoSleep 2020 is now going down Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23. Get amped.
Inspired by former NP Grand Rapids co-leader Matt Swiontek and his team that put on the All Together Now 24-Hour Relay back in April, may we present NoSleep 2020: A 48 hour non-stop virtual relay. It’s like a Ragnar, but twice as long, and free, and no smelly van life, and socially distant. Ok it’s not like a Ragnar, and that’s probably a copyrighted term.
NoSleep 2020 Details:
Who: You, and up to eleven other teammates.
What: Run or walk for an hour, any distance, any speed, for your designated time slot(s)
Where: Anywhere! Walk out your front door, run on a treadmill, hit the city streets or the country trails.
When: 8pm CDT Friday, August 21 through 8 pm CDT Sunday, August 23.
Why: Why not? We just told you No Coast is cancelled, you’ve got nothing else going on that weekend.
How: Teams of up to 12 will have one person running or walking at all times from the start of the race through the finish. You can run time slots back-to-back, or switch off every hour, or whatever works for your team. Handoffs will be done virtually (or socially distant in person). More details to come.
