Love + Gratitude [MTL]

After having the honour of co-leading for nearly 2 years, it’s come time for me to take a step back. Janick and Silvana officially stepped into their leadership roles 2 weeks ago, and I’m SO excited for our community – I know they’re going to do great things!!

Next Wednesday will be my last workout as a co-lead, but before I step down, I want to share a few words of gratitude.

TO MY MONTREAL COMMUNITY:

Thank you all for showing up, whether it’s every week OR occasionally OR just once or twice… I appreciate you all so, SO much. Thank you for showing up for each other, for encouraging each other, for staying connected, and for making our community what it is. Even in the toughest, most isolating months of COVID lockdowns, I always look forward to Wednesdays because I know I’ll get to sweat and laugh with you all. Thank you for making me feel comfortable and at ease, and for bringing out the quirkiest side of me.

To Lauren: thank you for thinking of me and empowering me to step up into this role. You are SO missed in Montreal!! And to Laurent: we don’t always see eye-to-eye (I can hear you making a joke about how there are a few inches of height difference between the two of us…), I know I can always count on you, and I appreciate that so much. I admire your desire to bring together and connect the broader community, your meticulous Excel / Photoshop / general tech skills, and your drive to make our community better. I especially appreciate you taking care of everything in times when life has been particularly tough for me. It’s been such a pleasure leading with you!

TO ALL PAST + PRESENT LEADERS:

The co-leaders across the globe + the HQ team are some of the most inspiring and dedicated people I’ve met. They are passionate and so caring, and they give so much of their time and energy to their communities.

Thank you for being open-minded and for being receptive to feedback. For acknowledging mistakes made and learning from them. Thank you for continuing to learn about what it really means to be inclusive, and for doing the work to try and make that happen. For always striving for growth, and for leading the change. Thank you for inspiring me to do the same.

LOOKING AHEAD

I love the way BG described November Project at Meeting of the Minds in Seattle, because I think it captures the essence of NP so concisely and perfectly.

“we use fitness as a vehicle to build community”

At the end of the day, NP is about making connections and building community. Everyone plays a role in this, and makes it what it is. I’ve built some pretty amazing friendships and connections, and I’m so grateful to be involved in this wonderful community.

Happy 3rd birthday to NP Montreal!

I know that there are many positive changes that are happening / are a work-in-progress, and I can’t wait to see how things evolve. I look forward to continuing to be a part of this community, and am so excited about the fresh energy that Janick and Silvana will bring to Montreal!!

With love,
Dora
