Let it Snow-ish. Let us break the internet.

We know we’re in New England when it was almost 60 degrees for the stadium two days ago, but we ran in snow this morning. Hold up, let me think carefully about my words.  I will likely get shunned by the entire tribes of Minneapolis, Chicago, and Edmonton (as well as others I’m sure) if I said that it really “snowed” this morning.  But technically it was cold enough to bring some frosty flakes down and to cover slippery leaves with slippery, slushy snow.  The tribe sure is #Weatherproof and we turned up this morning in our brightest of bright layers, ready for anything.  Fortunately the tribe members are also machines, who worked hard, sweat hard and stripped down so we were not left wanting for half-naked runners.  We had it all out there this morning.  As we come upon noon, there’s nothing left to see of the snow but it was a nice little orientation to the winter that is coming.  Bring it on Mrs. Mother Nature.  Bring that shit on.

Our workout consisted of full hills with a little social spice.  Evan (“second E” of DEE) is one of the biggest NP cheerleaders this tribe has.  Don’t get me wrong, the dude is little.  But the smallest, hardest, ripped-up body frame (#BurpieJesus) we’ve seen has the most gigantic “You Can Do It” vibe.  He decided that every time someone cheers for you today, you get to sprint your ass off to the next telephone pole.  And every time you cheer for someone else, you give them an opportunity to get better and faster by helping them add some sprints into their Friday hills.  Best way to start learning names EVER!  Birthday snow-angels and some crazy group photo pose that involved champagne and glasses on our asses (thank you Deniz) made the day just enough ridiculous to remind us of all the other reasons we love showing up.  With a cut off time of 7:20 there were some dedicated racers who got a solid number of hills in. Tell the world about it.

I’m also really fucking proud of the tribe for continuing to push hard.  Whether you typically finish one hill but today you changed the world by doing 1.5 and feeling really good about it, or if you typically finish 5 or 6 and you changed the world by racing your Kardashian ass off until the stroke of 7:20 and inspiring others to race like you, the bottom line is we changed the world this morning.  And that is exactly why this beautiful tribe exists–why it started in the first place.  To motivate each other to stay moving through the crazy winter months and get fitter, faster because of it.  Pretty soon the world is going to start rotating differently because so many people are getting up, bouncing, running, sprinting, just freaking moving.

I love the movement.  I love the movement of our bodies and I love this movement that inspires us to move our bodies.  Let the movement move you too!  This is the magic of November Project.  If you show up, and put in your all, others see that, they feel that and they want to do it too.  On the other hand, if you show up and slow down, or stop early, or lessen the collective movement that we create, then here’s what happens–you don’t help other people get better.  It might sound harsh but think about it.  Every single one of us is powerful, influential, and inspiring.  Use your social media to post pictures of you moving, getting stronger and faster and see how people respond.  They want it too.  The tribe in front of your face wants it too! This shit is good.  So, how do you want to change the world?  Do you want to take advantage of every single minute of our workout together, or do you want less because it’s early, or you’re tired?  Do you want to sprint when someone says your name because it’s a challenge you don’t get when you’re running alone, or do you want to pretend you didn’t hear and just keep your even pace? Even when you’re out there doing badass races and proudly representing November Project or when you’re injured, if you show up, be ready to move from start to finish.  Do the right things that support your training or support your injury recovery, but don’t use racing or injury as an excuse to lessen our movement as a whole! The winter is only going to get colder and snowier.  There will only be more possible excuses to lessen the movement.  Find ways to inspire yourself and everyone else.  You don’t have to make excuses, you don’t have to stop moving, and you can change the world with every choice you make.

Maybe I’m full of shit, but the more we do this together, the more I believe we are making the world better, one minute at a time.

The tribe is moving.
