I am Vaibhav Hariani, better known as Vader and I am 11 years old. I go to November Project almost every week. On the average day, I am the only middle schooler at November project, and that is okay.
My first day at November Project was not a workout. My dad had been going to November project for a few weeks at the time, and he had been asking me to join him at a workout. One day we were at Macy’s, searching for a pair of boots for me and my dad. There, he tells me that some people from November Project would be playing in the snow later. So I agreed to go with him.
Me and dad arrived an ½ hour late, and we were going to start playing capture the flag. I say some funny stuff about a crowbar that must be used, and I began to warm up to the group. This is where I met a big piece of the tribe. Paul Leak, Matt Powers and Amanda Lippon were there. After the games, we all went to some pizza bar where I ate pizza and the adults drank beer. Dad told me that this is how fun November Project is, so I considered going to an official workout.
Three months later, dad earns some magic power to get me out of bed at 5:30. I, half dead, agreed to go to the workout a few blocks away from home and my school. I completed the workout (somehow), and realized that it was fun after a while. Dad promised to get me something unhealthy if I go every week. I agreed to go every time that I can.
I didn’t just agree to go to the workouts for the unhealthy breakfast. I didn’t agree to go because I would make dad happy either. These were factors that helped me want to go, but they were not the cause. I went because I had a good time, and if I exercised while having that much fun, I could be amazing at stuff. So, dad took me to the next workout on Wednesday, bridge day.
I have now gone to November Project for almost two months, and I have had the best time of my life. I have made incredible friends, like Matt Powers, #Paulleak, Casey and Kelly, just to name a few. If there was a workout every day of the week, I would go. November Project has become a part of my life. Dad still has to wake me up, and I’m not exactly the happiest guy in the morning, but I am alert and ready to workout as soon as we get out of the building. November project has grown on me so much, and I don’t know what I have missed before I joined my first workout.
Even though I am the youngest person at November Project, I still go because it doesn’t matter. I am also the slowest person at the tribe, but speed isn’t everything. At a normal Wednesday workout, I go at my own pace. I do as many laps as I want to, take as many breaks as I want, but still keep going. I don’t care that I am slow, because November Project accepts everyone, young or old, slow or fast. I just need to be me, and that is all that matters at the November Project.
