We couldn’t do it without you

Read that title again.  We couldn’t do it without you.

We mean it.  November Project is the tribe.  It’s not just free fitness or an idea thought up by two former rowers in a bar one night (see November Project: The Book).  It’s not just hill repeats and stadium steps and decks-of-cards.  It’s not just hugs or fun workouts.  It is So. Much. More than that.

November Project is the kids who get up way too early for their young and growing little bodies & brains–and who workout with their parents and their hundreds of adult friends, wearing #minigrassrootsgear (and sometimes also #capesandcrowns). The kids who celebrate their birthdays just as excitedly, or maybe more so, with the Tribe as they do with their friends from school.

November Project is moms and dads like Erica Holt, Erika Anderson, and Eric Klawiter (and the many, many others–we see you too!) who get your kids up at way-to-early-dark:30 AM to #JustShowUp.  Who sacrifice the group photos to get home so the other parent can make it to the second workout, or bust away from the pack of hugging lingerers to get the kids to school (sometimes in wet clothes…#motheroftheyear).  And who model and instill in their children that fitness is not something that gets sacrificed for family, it gets integrated into family.  Movement, health, hugs, community, and having lots of people who love you and support you in being healthy and happy–that’s what this is really about.  Generation after generation.

November Project is Kimberly Teitter, (also a mom!) who has been coming to NP for a while and decided that since she loves to make beautiful fancy cakes, and she heard about Liv and Charlie’s birthday theme: #capesandcrowns, she would just make some incredible cakes for the kids and adults to enjoy after the workout and water balloon brawl this morning.  No one asked her to, she just thought it would be fun and add to the celebration.  Charlie’s was a crown.  Liv’s was a lightening bolt wearing a cape through the skyline of Boston.  Not to mention, Kimberly had to leave for the airport so she literally showed up to bring the cakes and didn’t even get to see the kids’ excitement and hear the groans of delight from everyone enjoying the post-workout recovery food.  We couldn’t do this without you, Kimberly.

November Project is photographic visionaries like Dooster himself, Dylan Ladds, and the brilliant eyes of Rosa Evora, Harry Mattison, Daniel Rothenberg (all there shooting today), and the many others (Scott Yellow, Diana Hunt, Xander, Colette, Komaiko…) who grace us with your photography on the regular.  When you look at the album of photos today, we can appreciate all those amazing moments we share just a little more–because they were pretty incredible while we lived them, but wow…those smiles, those grimaces as people dodge and get nailed by water balloons.  Those capes, crowns, running legs and strong bodies.  Those beautiful moments are what this is really about.  Thanks Dooster (and Capozzi) for hitting us right in the feeler with all the feels.

November Project is also people like my two co-leaders.  My besticles, “The Chrises,” as I call them.  Who give of themselves in time and effort, by racing and by inspiring, with photographs and blogs, with jokes and hugs, and with the biggest hearts of anyone I know.  It’s not always easy being co-leaders, or people in general, but we’re all a lot bit better off with these two in the mix, along with all the other weirdos leading NP tribes.

November Project is also you reading this blog–taking time out of your day to re-connect with the tribe by reading about what we did this morning or giving yourself an opportunity to get a little spark of excitement/inspiration or a quick laugh from whatever we post here three times a week.  It’s you who shows up.  It’s you who “fuck yeahs” the person who just passed you.  It’s you who hugs the newbie because you can tell they’re new.  It’s you who bounces hard, races harder, and gives your all in your workouts.  It’s you who looks at the photo album and likes the pictures because you love the shot or you love the person in the shot.  It’s you who tags yourself and everyone you know in the photos because you’re so freaking proud to have been there and you’re kinda happy that everyone knows about it.  It’s you.

We couldn’t do this…this thing that is so much bigger than NP…without you Liv, Charlie, Erika, Eric, Erica, Kimberly, Dooster, Bojan, BG, co-leaders around the world, tribe photographers, DJ Phoenix, paint crew, ALL OF YOU!  We just couldn’t.  And darn it, we don’t want to do it without you.

Was today the best Friday morning ever? Probably.

The Tribe is Strong.

MONDAY DESTINATION DECK is at the Brookline Reservoir.  Verbal in the Tracker and get the exact location.

PR HILLS was also today…you know, the 2nd Friday of the month.  Magenta PR dots were sprayed on PR Hats.  If you don’t have an NP Summit AVE hat, make your own PR hat and start racing your ass off and collecting dots.  Record your time for PR Hills this morning in the tracker!
