Find your REDLINE (Boston 12.19.18)

The Redline workout: run/climb regular sections in the stadium, starting at section 37, until you hear the Redline cowbell.  Then for the 90 seconds that the Redline bell rings, you go as fast as you possibly can up and down the stairs.  When the bell stops ringing, you have one full section to slow your shit down, catch your breath, and resume your baseline speed for sections.  The Redline bells don’t come as frequently as the well-loved “firedrills,” but they’re really. really. fucking hard. 

I’m not going to say everyone was throwing up…but there might have been was definitely some puke produced this morning. 

If you read that and think, “I’m never doing that/going there for those workouts/etc” I hope you remember that one of the goals we have at NP is to push ourselves outside of our normal comfort zone–mostly because the most comfortable comfort zone is our BEDS on an early Wed morning–and also because it’s good for us to try shit that really challenges us.  Maybe we hit the line of intensity and we figure out how to keep pushing riiiiiight up to it, or maybe we puke.  But we also get through it and we are better for experiencing the challenge, both physically and mentally.  We are all just working on challenging ourselves–not to be better than anyone else, but to be better than ourselves yesterday, last week, last month… you get it.

PR Day next week

Next Wednesday is not only the last Wednesday of the month, which is PR day, but it’s the last Wednesday of the entire year!  There is no better time to show up, bring everyone who most likely isn’t working that day anyway, and send out 2018 with one final Stadium tour.  Get ready!!!!!!!!  5:30am & 6:30am, like always!

Friday Run + Social

We’ve still got a normal Friday morning 6:30am workout at the hills, AND We’ve also got an event on Friday night: Relay for Light.  It’s to run out the day of the year with the most minutes of darkness…and run us into the days of more and more light. 

Friday, 12/21 starting at 7:30pm with a group run and then a social + relay run from 8pm – 12am.  Read all the details here in this blog.  Everyone is welcome!! Come for the run, come for the relay, come just for the social– we’ll be happy to see you.  This is a good opportunity to get to know the tribe even better!  You can even officially RSVP in the Facebook event.

There will also be an opportunity to get #grassrootsgear tagged on Friday night.  You can bring one item per person to get tagged.  The brighter the color, the better.  No tagging on dark/black clothes, because we will definitely be tagging with black paint.

Monday Destination Deck

We only have 2 mondays left in the entire year of 2018, so you better SHOW UP!  On 12/24, meet at Seaport Common Christmas Tree at 6:29am for a gift-of-a-workout.  It’ll be awesome.

There’s so much to be grateful for, and so many opportunities to connect with the tribe, to join up for amazing, fierce, free fitness — we hope you get as much of it as you can.  Let’s send out 2018 with all the best of NP.  Kindness, community, and social fitness that’s changing the world.
