Okay, okay…we know that all the Canadian tribes will just roll their eyes at us for calling today cold. But since winter has been pretty mild so far, the real temperature in the teens and the windchill being 4 degrees this morning was nothing short of cold.
Yet those badasses who showed up this morning, braved the windchill (hopefully with buff-covered faces) and moved their bodies through some warm ups, 5 min periods of sprinting down & back for increasing distances while doing +2 burpees or jump squats after each lap, and also doing partnered 50/50 (50 pushups & 50 partner leg throw downs). Most everyone warmed up (see the photo with Drock stripped down to his guns out tee shirt) and as long as everyone kept moving, we did not turn into full human popsicles.
But here’s the thing–#weatherproof means all the weather. It’s definitely more fun to be weatherproof when there’s tons of snow, because we can play in it and we seem to dress more strategically for the snow. And straight up cold AF doesn’t inspire anyone really to get outside. But showing up this morning fired me up. And seeing the bundled faces of everyone who just showed up and busted their asses through the workout reminds me that together we’re bigger and better than the weather. It might be cold AF but we’re tough AF. And getting better every single day, every single workout.
January Mondays are for Speed
Today was the first of a couple of Monday workouts aimed at running, and getting faster at running, in preparation for our #SunriseML6K that’s coming up in two weeks. January 21 at 5:30am and 6:30am we will hold a race, 6000m long, for anyone and everyone who shows up. It’s free, it’s a race, and it’s really fun to do with the tribe. Interesting prizes. Held right at or near Harvard (you know where to go!!). Bring everyone. Your homework is to tell at least one person about it who doesn’t already know about it.
NEXT MONDAY, Jan 14 at 6:29am our workout will be at Madison Park High track. See the map here. Stay warm, get hyped, and show up!
