Hey everyone, did you see the IG post today that came out of Boston? If you’re reading the blog, it means you’re dialed in enough to NP_BOS that you probably also follow the gram, and you see that despite another Nor’easter blasting us with roughly 18″ of snow, we managed to both show up to workout, and also have a shit ton of fun doing it.
It’s not a normal thing to climb up and log roll down the entire section from the very top 31st step down to the wall overlooking the field. But we did that today at the very end of the 6:30 workout. For everyone who wasn’t there, it was ridiculous. Ridiculously fun, kind of insane (we definitely thought we were going to log roll right off the wall and bounce off the bubble), and one of those things that defies belief. It was disorienting trying to climb and having absolutely no clue where the actual stairs were, and not needing to anyway because there was so much snow, it didn’t matter where we were stepping. And while it was this bizarre, amazing experience, as I rolled down my third time, I thought about the fact that in all my time at NP, I had never–ever– done this before. Despite all the snow storms, all the shovel crew sessions, all the workouts done in the field because the stairs just weren’t safe to get up and down, this was the very first time I had rolled down the stairs with deep pillows of snow to cushion my descent.
There was a small crew at NP this morning. A mere 15 brave souls at the 5:30 group and maybe 2-3 times that for the 6:30 group. So while 1600+ people like the photo of us rolling down those epic stadium stairs on IG, most of them FOMO’ing their faces off, only a small group of us got to live that moment in real life. After realizing that after all this time at NP I can still have brand new experiences that I do NOT miss out on when I show up, I think it draws out this important point. FOMO isn’t really about thinking you missed out on some particular thing that’s cool, it’s about possibly missing out on living life to its fullest potential.

Do I hope everyone in the world shows up for the next epic snow day just to see if we maybe sled or snowboard down the stadium slopes? Fuck yeah I do. Do I hope that everyone shows up so they don’t miss out on the most amazing games of Bojan Freeze Tag too? Umm, of course! (check the FB album today for incredible Capozzi shots of that magic). But more importantly, I hope we keep living fully–being wide open to whatever adventures are in front of us even on epic snow days. Let’s not let the predictable expectation of something cool and highly Instagram-able be what drives us up and out. Instead, let’s let the exploration of life– the excitement of any- & everything that comes our way to be what makes us adventure. Fitness, fun, life, family, friends, work…don’t fucking FOMO on anything, go live it. #JustShowUp
Keep changing the world.
