Rain and Reflection (YWG)

Wisconsin Notes:
-Tom received the Shabooya – again.
-It rained
-We reflected on the things that matter

Tom showed up, again, like every week, twice a week. Without fail he wears grassroots gear, he never stops pushing himself, he hugs and smiles and high fives and learns names and that is all pretty awesome. Tom represents NP in every way we could ask. Congratulations Tom and thanks for joining us! read more

At the end of today’s workout I told the tribe how it had been one of the those morning where any excuse in the world felt like a better idea than getting up and braving 80 km/hr winds, blowing snow and a windchill of -30. . . IN MARCH!!!

For me, there never really is a choice though. I am one of the leaders and when I am in town and not working, Wednesday morning, 6:14 AM, at the Forks is a constant in my life. I have long contended that the decisions you all make are for more impressive each and every week. When you choose to put aside the cold excuse, the tired excuse, the “I’ll head to the gym later instead” excuse, you are starting your day with something important and productive and setting yourself up for success. read more

Many PR day’s I have been overwhelmed with the records set. Today was not one of those days, I may not have been underwhelmed either as that is a bit too harsh, I think I was just whelmed.

It was a slippery day and all corners were covered in a nice layer of slushy snow-ice. It made for some shuffly-momentum-breaky-trying-not-to-fally footsteps. That said, we got it done, we high-fived and cheered our way through it and still had an awesome morning. Great work! read more

One last clap (YWG)

Wisconsin Notes:
-MEC Race #3 Sunday July 17th Birdshill Park
-Pop-Up Hill Runs Friday at Garbage Hill 6:14 AM
-Iceland chant good
-Megan is everywhere

Derek brought to us one of the most fun and epic bounces I have seen in a long time this morning. Complete with a bongo drum, we paid homage to our November Project Iceland friends by replicating the cheer of the national soccer team that took the world by storm. It was a hell of a run the team made and it led to a hell of a bounce for us this morning! read more

Mr Sun (YWG)

Hey Mr Sun, what the hell dude? We even sang you the song! Oh well, all is forgiven, but you better not disappoint me again next week. We have a party to throw and it’s going to be huge. Like 200+ people huge. Sound good? Thanks man, let’s hug it out.

What a year it was! (YWG)

TRACKER: add your PR’s from today.

52 Wednesdays have come and gone. Alongside dozens of pop-ups and extra workouts our year was a blast. A group that grew from 30 last March to well over 150 by June. Hundreds who have come once and loved it, spread the word and returned week after week to see what new crazy shit was awaiting them. This group has grown beyond any identifiable barrier. We have children as young as 10 years old and adults well into their 60’s and 70’s. We have men and women from all walks of life, from all fitness levels and all with different goals. The one thing that unifies this group is a shared passion for experiencing community togetherness on a weekly basis. Scoff at the concept if you will, but until you have made yourself come out you cannot truly appreciate the group for what it has become. We never leave disappointed, we never leave without a smile on our faces, and we never leave without a feeling of energy that far exceeds that which you would expect to receive from a workout alone. read more

T’was the merriest of mornings (YWG)

This morning once again showed us all why Winnipeg and it’s wonderful Winnipeggers are so awesome. After a night of substantial snowfall I expected a smaller group due to bad roads, clearing off cars and generally the fact it is the holidays and maybe some people wanted to sleep in.

Of course I was wrong, I was way wrong. Just like every week, people rolled in with smiles bright and decided to jump around in a pack featuring some ridiculous christmas sweaters. The snowfall certainly changed some of our plans for the workout but it also added a layer of magical holiday cheer that we could not have planned for.

The highlight of the day was the gift exchange workout featuring a beautiful wrapped gift in the middle of a circle. The best ‘gifts’ drawn instructed groups to hug repeatedly or to break out in some aggressive full body KARATE. It was stupid as hell, and we all loved it! We all love Winnipeg. We all love November Project. It’s all simple as that. read more

Today was an unseasonably warm Manitoba December day, -10 celsius but completely dark for the entirety of the workout. Of course that didn’t stop close to 100 of us from getting out of bed, throwing on a few layers and heading down to the Forks for a relentless assault on our legs. read more

Day 360 – Guest Blog (YWG)

This post is close to my heart. This tribe? Closer still.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Milana, also known as Millie, Banana, Mulan, or my latest (and favourite NP-only) nickname, Shabooya. First off, we don’t know each other? What gives? Let’s be friends!

Secondly, November Project is a big deal in my life. …to the point that my good friend Jenny once asked me if I was going to NP that week then immediately cut herself off with a brilliant quote that I will cherish forever (included at the end of this post). Allow me to explain. read more
