…In One Word… STELLAR

WEEK #8 of #DADDYRICHTAKEOVER and these guest leaders keep knocking the workouts right out of the park! We are loving the creativity, the intensity, the nerves and the huge smiles splashed across their faces as they get that sweet, sweet high of leading the group of yahoos.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to this week’s guest leader: read more

This week marked Week 6 of # DADDYRICHTAKEOVER and definitely did not disappoint. The guest leader chosen had been called up once before around Christmas time and proved then that he has that little extra something that NP needs/wants/draws out of you.

Without further ado…

He runs through the park with go hard movement;
Telling stories of turtles that are teenaged and mutant. read more

Everyone Loves Recess!

Hey… Remember last week? Yah, last week. Week 5 of #DADDYRICHTAKEOVER. The week we wore green, did Leprechaun Leaps, Wheelbarrow Squats and stroked each others existing/non existing beards? The music brought you back to the days of going to Kelly O’Brien’s on your birthday for your free dinner… Is that a small city thing? … Kelowna…? read more

The Power of “YES”

Think of the first time that you said “Yes”. Like that first time… you know, things were confusing, and scary, and weird, and you were not sure how it was going to go, but you know that you wanted to. And then remember how good it felt when you finally did, and all the good that came from it. Maybe you learned something about yourself in those moments? Maybe it opened up something for you that you never thought it would. Maybe you fell in love. read more

Bow Down to the Prince

WE DO WHAT WE WANT! As in we’re aware this blog post is a a little late. Get over it. We’re over it.

Last week was Week #4 of #DADDYRICHTAKEOVER and it ROYALLY KICKED ASS!

Let me introduce you to our guest leader …

So the past intros for people, I tend to boast;

However this particular one is a bit of a roast. read more

“Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat”

Better late than never!

Last Wednesday was Week 3 of #DADDYRICHTAKEOVER and the workout was the cat’s pajamas! It was also the first official OFFICIAL #DADDYRICHTAKEOVER workout as the twins had arrived!! Early Friday morning on February 24th, Richard and his wife welcomed a son and a daughter (in that order) Both are healthy and thriving, making life ever so interesting for their parents, who seem to be killing it! read more

Who Let the Dogs Out!?

Well… Richard is still waiting on those twins, but they seem to be super content where they are. However, we all know they will decide to make their grand entrance during what may be the last winter storm for Vancouver and he’ll be on the way to work, stuck in traffic in the tunnel because that’s how it’s going to be. Like seriously, what’s the hold up!? I think it’s time for a baby pool … Place your bets! read more

#DADDYRICHTAKEOVER HAS COMMENCED!

What’s #daddyrichtakeover? Well, it’s when Richard and his wife decide to have a second kid, and Rich promised that he would take a couple months off to be there for his wife, newborn, their giant 2 year old and the dog. However, Biology stepped in and decided that his wife get what she wanted (3 kids), so they’re welcoming TWINS into the world.. very soon! So, for the next several weeks NPYVR will have Mel G and “surprise guest leader”! Worried? We’re not. After each Wednesday of a new guest leader, we’ve asked them to write an entry for our blog and you’ll realize why we made the choices we did. Our first guest hails from NPCAN, but he has definitely made NPYVR his home… read more

Embrace The Hugs

It’s 2017. January has come and gone. Was going to a November Project workout a goal of yours? WE HOPE SO!

I still remember my first workout (Insert Scooby Doo squiggly lines) and we travel back to July 1, 2015 …

My friend has been trying to get me to go for a handful of weeks and 530am is early. Like so early, especially when I don’t work until 10am. There’s so much sleep to be had. However, it was Canada Day and she knew I would have the day off and therefore, could return to my amazing cloud like bed and go back to sleep. So she picked me up in front of my place, I appropriately wore red and white as per the instructions I found on FB and we headed to QE Park. As we collect our water bottles and are about to leave the truck, she spurts out “OH, BY THE WAY, THEY HUG!” (insert a cackle) They do what now? Hug? Hug? HUG? Hug strangers? But, but, but my pristine little bubble will be invaded! OMG, what is happening?! I received hugs that day, however, I was apparently doing it “wrong” or not according to NP standards and was promptly called out for it in front of 100+ people. Good thing Graham and I had such a great rapport… hahaha… Don’t poke the Mel Bear… read more

Roaring Through The Holidays

WHAT A WAY TO END TO YEAR!!

NPYVR set the tone for what would be a festive AF month.

Half a dozen of our tribe people got together and exercised their vocal for the Yule Duel this year! The Yule Duel is a fundraiser coordinated with The Bloom Group to raise money for May’s Place Hospice. Our goal of $1000 was far surpassed due to the generous offer of matching donations up to $300 by our former Co Leader Graham “Snowy” Snowden/Snowfield. Our tribe managed to raise a whopping $1799 (an oh so appropriate amount is if we do say so ourselves) which put us in contention to actually duel on stage… Although we were one of the most “creative and colourful” choirs out there, our rendition of “12 Days of Fitness” was no match for some of the other multi talented choirs… Next year though… We did keep our promise that for EVERY DOLLAR DONATED we would do a Burpee — Rich and Mel did 50 each and split the rest amongst the 43 people that showed up for the workout following the Duel. Burps for Breakfast – YUM! read more
