Who Let the Dogs Out!?

Well… Richard is still waiting on those twins, but they seem to be super content where they are. However, we all know they will decide to make their grand entrance during what may be the last winter storm for Vancouver and he’ll be on the way to work, stuck in traffic in the tunnel because that’s how it’s going to be. Like seriously, what’s the hold up!? I think it’s time for a baby pool … Place your bets!

Today marks Workout #2 of #DADDYRICHTAKEOVER (even if Rich was at workout, he participated and then the guest leader enjoy the morning) and we did it right! It’s the end of the month, which means PR Day and to keep things fresh, we went with something new and CANINE themed! Don’t worry, our workouts haven’t gone to the dogs in the absence of Rich (or soon to be absence) – in fact, those individuals who are helping out could not be more enthusiastic about their role. And for us (Rich and I), we are elated, excited and stoked to see what they come up with! We had some Bird Dogs, Walk the Dog Burpees, Shallow Dog Bowls and Wag the Tail! WOOF!

Without further ado …

I’m standing up here on my soapbox,

yelling of things as to why NP ROCKS.

And Rich is spinning in total shock,

as having twins is no cakewalk.

We needed someone to fill his socks;

your guest lead today is Vin, The Silver Fox!

“6:20am early April last year, arrived on top of Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Park on a gorgeous morning, sun rising over Mount Baker. Hannah, Kyle Sellers’ (NP) better half, told me about a great workout with a bunch of crazy people screaming ‘Fuck Yeah’. Hannah said ‘You’d love it; you’ll fit right in, you love working out’. I thought, why not. Sounded a bit like a cult though… ‘Free’ workout, people don’t know each other, everyone invited, kind of crazy looking tribe (have you seen the Facebook page!) To be honest, I did Google November Project + Cult (tell me you didn’t). The only hits I received said it’s out there, but it’s real.

Flashback a few years. I’ve always considered myself lucky, I have a great partner and the best dog in the world (you know it’s true). I’ve had challenges like most people, but I’ve been healthy and fit. I have noticed a few changes in the last few years though. I’ve seen a roll here and there and I’m not talking about bread (though it might be a result of liquid bread). This all led to an ongoing plyometric relationship with Shaun-T. I’ve loved working out six times a week, but it’s been a bit of a personal, solitary experience.

Along came November Project. I went into it thinking it would be a good way to challenge myself, but it was so much more; positive attitude, super energy, connection, enthusiasm, irreverence, as well as a damn good workout. I know you’ve all heard this, but our tribe is amazing and our leaders Mel Garner and Richard Hortness are the best. They get up so early to prep our workouts. They encourage us while standing in the cold and rain and they don’t even get a chance to sweat. Now Richard and his wife are about to have twins, I am glad to have a chance to give back by co-leading a workout. I’m a bit nervous, but looking forward to it. Hannah, you were right, I do love it.

Vin – aka ‘Silver Fox’.”

Vin not only rocked a wicked workout for PR Day, he dressed up too!! And as most people know, that’s my favourite! Well done, Vin!! WOOF! ROAR!
