Milestones (Ottawa)

Good evening, YOWzers!

We hope you’ve had a lovely Wednesday so far. It’s always a pleasure starting off the day with you, and hopefully this post brings you some entertainment as the day comes to a close.

As you may know, this week marks ONE YEAR since the Rebeccas took over the reins as November Project co-leaders in Ottawa. We are still trying to wrap our heads around that since (1) time has seemingly stood still for the better part of the last two years and (2) we think that’s quite a milestone! read more

PR Day: Internet Edition (Ottawa/WWW)

Greetings, NPers near and far! We hope you’ve been having a stellar Wednesday. For those tuning in from Ottawa, we hope you’ve been staying warm through this cold spell. For those checking in from other places with more moderate climates, we also hope that you are generally comfortable in terms of your day to day body temperature. read more

EW, David (Ottawa)

Good evening, folks!

We would have written sooner but, as our local readers may have noticed, IT SNOWED TODAY. And it was therefore imperative that this writer get out on the ski hill to get some fresh tracks. Upon returning from said fresh tracks, it was also critical to take a certain devastatingly handsome doggo out for investigative sniffs of the fresh snow (he is happy to report that all important messages were checked and all equally time-sensitive memos were sent out). And now, yeesh, just look at the time… we can only assume that you have been patiently staring at your screen all day long, just waiting for the moment at which this blog would be published. read more

Resolutions (Ottawa)

Good afternoon, YOWzers and welcome to 2022! While it has also been affectionately referred to as “2020, too”, a lot has changed in the last two years… and we think there is a lot to look forward to this year!

Once you’ve hit your COVID limit for the day and are desperately looking for any other topic of conversation, one theme that may be popping up these days is that of the New Year’s Resolution. Now, depending on which study you quickly google/only read the title/don’t check for reliable references… it seems like New Year’s Resolutions are commonly kept, but not so commonly successful. Whether you have made one (or more) resolutions this year, we have prepared a few ways to help you be successful. read more

Best Laid Plans (Ottawa)

Best Laid Plans: [idiomatic] A proverbial expression used to signify the futility of making detailed plans when the ability to fully or even partially execute them is uncertain.

…sound familiar?

For many of us, this holiday season did not quite go as planned. In person gatherings may have turned back into trusty Zoom calls. Turkey dinners may have turned into frozen pizzas. Some people may have been in isolation, wishing they could re-enter society. Others may not have been in isolation, wishing they could re-exit society. Perhaps your holiday plans DID go exactly as planned, but you were expecting things to fall apart, so you were planning to have to re-plan but didn’t end up doing so…? Needless to say, we have all had to adapt, yet again, in one way or another. read more

NP Continues to Continue (Ottawa)

Greetings, folks!

A big thank you to Erin from the Internet for leading the NP Ottawa community through a killer workout this morning. With new restrictions in place… or old restrictions back in place… or regular restrictions that stay in place…? Whatever version of restrictions are upon us, we have returned to a virtual platform for our Wednesday morning workouts. We are hoping this is a short term switch, but unfortunately our hopes appear to have little effect on this pandemic so we will continue to abide by public health recommendations and do our best to keep everyone moving as safely as possible. read more

Rhyme Time (Ottawa)

‘Twas the night before NP
And Becca didn’t know what to write
No ideas came to mind
Try as she might

And so, as is custom
She took to the rhymes
Which allows one to say everything
And nothing at the same time

“I know!” she said
Alfie can help out
He’s got great ideas
Of that there’s no doubt

But when it was time
To embark into prose
Alfie had other plans
And was deep in a doze read more

(Pre-)Sunrise 6k (Ottawa)

Top of the morning to all you beautiful people! Thank you for sharing your morning with us. Whether you ran, jogged, walked, or side-shuffled awkwardly over ice… 6km, 1km, or anything in between, we sure are glad that you came out and did it with us.

As the temperature dips and the light leaves us a bit earlier each day, the motivation to get outside and move can be hard to come by. We start getting creative and searching for new reasons to get out there, even when all you want to do is sink deeper into the couch at the end of the day. Note: sinking into the couch is a very valid option as well. So, today we’d like to know what gets you outdoors and moving on these colder, darker days? Some quick data collection provided us with a few ideas: read more

A Maccabee Morning (Ottawa)

Good morning, YOWzers! Thank you for sharing this beautiful Hannukah morning with us. We are about halfway through the holiday, which was perfect timing for a Hannukah-inspired workout! In case you missed it, want to relive it, or were somewhat unclear on how burpees are in any way related to the holiday, please read on… read more

Choose Your Own PR Adventure (Ottawa)

Yahoo! Another PR Day in the books means that we have arrived at chapter 3 in the NP Ottawa novel that we’ve come to know and love. Or at least tolerate. AND our first frosty PR Day of the year meant that we were out of the stadium and back to the locks. Whether you were running laps or trying out the new alternative PR option, we sure are glad that you showed up and moved with us on this brisk morning.  read more
