Let's Get Through This Winter #IndianaJones Style

If you know me, you probably know how hard I tried to qualify and run Boston Marathon this year. Unfortunately, this week I was diagnosed with meniscus tear, and I may not be able to race in Boston Marathon 2015.  If I had to deal with this news by myself, I would be devastated. Yes I am sad, but I am still happy deep in my heart knowing that everything is going to be alright. I am so lucky to have an awesome tribe, who I know for sure will support me through my injury, cheer me up, help me get back in shape, and I will qualify for Boston Marathon again.  Because that’s what we do at November Project, we show up, we care for each other, we support each other, we push each other. That’s why Matt showed up this morning despite having an injured ankle. He arrived, started his deck of card application on his phone, and soon he was joined by more injured members. As the harsh winter conditions are taking their toll on Boston, I am pretty sure we are the luckiest people in town. Every Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning, we know for sure that there will be the crazy group of neon dressed yahoos waiting for us, antsy to hug us, play with us, race with us, cheer us and sometimes throw snow at us. read more

Pile The Snow

  • This morning our playground destination was Ringer Playground in Allston, United States. We carried piles of snow up the steep hill to form a pile on top of the hill as large as possible in 18 minutes.
  • Molly Thayer made it all the way from Denver, United States.
  • Nick Stamas ran with a deflated football in one hand and pile of snow in the other hand.
  • There will NOT be #GrassrootsGear tagging this Wednesday.
  • Due to the impending weather projected for the Boston area, Harvard stadium and all other Harvard fields will be closed on Wednesday morning. Therefore on Wednesday morning we will meet at Summit Ave, Brookline for Shovel Shuffle II at 6:30 AM only. Please bring snow shovels (if you have extra please bring them for your shovelless friends) and tons of warm clothing.  #WinterWonderland2015

The Good State of Human Nature

In college, I learned about 2 social contract theorists with distinct theories. Thomas Hobbes and John Locke. According to Hobbes, in the state of nature we would be in continual fear and in danger of violent death. Our lives would be solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short. On the other hand, Locke argued that in the state of nature, humans mostly kept their promises and honored their obligations, and, though insecure, it was mostly peaceful, good, and pleasant. They then go on to discuss the legitimacy of governments, civil rights and responsibilities, and the role of states, which is way beyond what I would like to talk about today. But, in its simplest form, I am a true believer of John Locke. Humans are peaceful animals, morally bound not to harm each other, but to love and help each other. read more

    Set the Bar High

This is the season of love and gratitude. It’s the time we make sure we show our love and gratitude to our families, friends, to the people we know and people we do not know. After spending the Thanksgiving day with our loved ones, those who are in close proximity to Boston woke up early today to show up at the #free Black Friday workout offered in Brookline, MA. Thankfully, November Project is always the best deal in town. It is offered every Monday, Wednesday, Friday. It is always free. And we are always guaranteed to have a badass workout and spend quality time with lovely people. This is our community we are all grateful to have. read more
