It’s a warm Monday in Milwaukee and you know what that means?

John Teich will put on a tank top and not take it off until November. Ben Teich will make fun of said tank top. Rick Clark will continue to not wear a shirt. DG and Roger will start wearing shorts, and Christine’s choice of shorts will start being considered appropriate. read more

Story Time: What REALLY Should Come First

Announcements:

  1. On April 18th at 6 pm, November Project Milwaukee will have a workout in Miller Park. I repeat: NOVEMBER PROJECT MILWAUKEE WILL HAVE A FREAKING WORKOUT IN FREAKING MILLER FREAKING PARK. But I’m sure you already knew that. Here’s the sitch: we have a few hundred people signed up. There is a waitlist for the social gathering/networking event/eat as much as you can to load up for Wednesday’s workout afterwards – if you want to get in, SIGN THE F UP RIGHT NOW. We want you there. You want you there.
  2. No Coast 2017 is right around the corner. Housing sign-up is here. Details will follow. Plan out when you’re going to clean your bathroom if you want to have guests. No one likes hair all over the shower walls.
  3. This is a no-nonsense take on NP MKE. Featured: Roger’s dance moves (duh), a twin-terview, and a really cool hat.
  4. Recruitment challenge winner will be announced at the workout Wednesday. Don’t miss it.

Today’s Story Time comes from Jonathon “Determin-educ-ation” Young. You know him by his pom-pom hat with side flaps, his death-inducing-tenacity, and his brother, Young the Younger. Read all the way to the end, or else you’ll miss some amazing stories and life lessons, and we’ll make you do burpees. read more

Nooks and Crannies

First you gots to get through the grape sucker before you can get to that good ol’ chocolate core. How many announcements does it take to get to the center of the Tootsie pop?

Grape sucker:

  1. RECRUITMENT PAPERS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED UNTIL MARCH 31 SO HAVE YOUR SHEETS TURNED IN BY THEN. YES THIS IS CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE IT IS IMPORTANT. I AM YELLING THROUGH THE COMPUTER SCREEN AT YOU. GITTER DONE.
  2. No Coast 2017 is taking place on April 22. Housing sign up is here. Details to come later. Please attend; we need you there.
  3. November Project MKE is excited to announce we will be taking over Miller Park on Tuesday, April 18 from 6-9 pm. Yes, it is a Tuesday. But it’s a Tuesday night! Invite the friends who think NP is “too early” – now they have NO EXCUSE. Tell them you can go to Bel Air after. Or stay for some food at the park instead.

Chocolate core:

If human beings were foods, we’d be English muffins… lots of nooks and crannies. No matter whether we convince ourselves that or believe that we are complete, full, and “have it all figured out”, we each have a few nooks and crannies to fill. read more

Alternative Facts 3.0

Announcements:

  • Recruitment papers are invalid after April 1 (no foolery). Be SURE that if you bring someone new, that they bring a form so that you can be king/queen of NP MKE recruitment efforts.
  • The No Coast Social is coming up (April 22) and there are a LOT of people coming into MKE from out of town. This means that we need as many people as possible to consider hosting at least one out-of-towner. Start thinking now about (1) whether you’ll be in town (2) whether you’re comfortable with someone from another tribe staying with you and (3) how many people you can feasibly host. We appreciate all of you and the fact that you are generous and thoughtful. More details to come.

We’re so darn happy you’re here

    Announcements:

    1. No Coast Social – keep your schedules (pronounced: shhhhhedüles) open the weekend of April 22. Not many details will be disclosed, but the one thing we will tell you is it’s gonna be so dang amazing. Simply because it involves mixing tribes. And for the record, they’re the best tribes the world has to offer.
    2. Recruitment forms – keep them coming. So far, it’s a four-way tie. We can’t split a prize four ways, so get after it, kiddos.
    3. Christine cannot open a bottle of champagne – but Watt (that’s the unit of power) of NP CHI certainly can consume one.

    We’re happy you’re here.
Such a simple phrase. Such a deep message.

Those four (technically six that have been smooshed together) words hold a boatload of meaning for the people of NP, and here’s why: we. mean. it.

I’ll give you a play by play. DG, Rog, and I (Christine) generally have coffee before arriving at the workout (can I get a “pre-workout-poops-rock”?) meaning we generally hit the bathroom at some point between the hours of 0615 and 0626. This most recent Wednesday, I went to the little girls’ room in the O’Donnell park office, and at the time, there were about four people besides us leader-folk near the Calling. Having a small group at 6:15 is a pretty standard thing – although, MKE, you gotta get better at being on time. I’m looking at you, WILL BOTT and THOMAS KENT BEAU (#calledout). read more

Evolution of a PR Day Face

    Announcements:

    1. DG shaved his face.
    2. You read that correctly.
    3. DG no longer has a beard.

Last week was PR day, and being on the injury, and more importantly, picture-taking deck, I had the pleasure of watching the changes that took place on the tribe’s faces (progressing from the pain inflicted by the PR workout itself):

Here is a description of what we do on PR day: read more

Guest blog: Matt “Super Rad” Mathias

    Announcements:

    1. Chris Larson is first-ever NP MKE President. Congratulations to PONPMKE on this President’s Day.
    2. If you have plastic Easter eggs, send Christine a message on Facebook.

Now on to the good stuff. For the first guest blog post, we present to you Milwaukee’s Matt “Super Rad” Mathias (origins of the name is the crowd surf that took place when he was awarded the PA this past Wednesday). Not only can this dude run, win over hearts with his cheer, and surf and ski like the gnar-shredding dude he is, he can also write. Try not to cry. read more

Read this to see a video of Emily Saul sniffing her armpit

Got your attention, didn’t I? Don’t worry, you’ll see Emily Saul as promised.

    ICYMI:

  • Will Bott turned 12 this weekend (wait, what? His childlike personality doesn’t match his age?) and Tom Beau’s hair is another year more majestic. There were two birthday parties, one of which included an appearance of baby Nellie Graham. Things the tribe learned at these birthday celebrations: (1) MKE Brewing Co is for drinking and drinking only. Do not take the tour (2) speed(Will + a few drinks) < speed(Joe Pliner) (3) rematch is scheduled for whenever Joe decides to skip work (4) Tonieh snuck out of the house against the wishes of her children (how the tables have turned). More birthday celebrations will be had in the future; this sh!t was good.
  • Kruegs is no longer “Kruegs” legally but is still going to answer to Kruegs.
  • Roger created a new dance move (surprised?). It looks like a dolphin met a Swiss guard, jumped out of the water in a straightjacket, and oscillated at a frequency of 70 Hz. Then repeated this movement to the other side, alternating right to left. Can’t picture it? Ask Roger at the next workout.
  • We have received ONE recruitment form and that leads us to one conclusion – WE NEED TO BE MORE VOCAL. So now I am sending you a call to action from the comfort of my Christmas socks: recruit the world. Recruit it hard. Give recruitment papers from this link to your garbage man, dentist, and neighbor’s uncle Willis.

    Kill ‘Em With Kindness

    ICYMI:

NP MKE had 35 guest leaders at the workout on Friday. I don’t know how they did it, but there was $0 charge for plane fare – considering some of the Amsterdam leaders made it, there must have been either black market deals made or just straight up magic. Who knows.
