Weathery hill sprints (4.21.17)

Didn’t read the blog a few weeks ago about how The worst days are the best days? Well I get a little extra pep in my step when I open the door to head to November Project and there is something happening outside. Rain//snow//ice//extreme humidity? It is all what makes the #weatherproof part of this movement fun and different not to mention badass. SO that was what my bounce was about this morning – I was excited because there was some weather outside that makes you want to jump back into bed BUT YOU DON’T because a)you’re a badass b)people are counting on you c) MAYBE JUST MAYBE you dropped a verbal, but did you (??) because we are really not doing nearly enough of that d) November Project is fun and you’ll be stronger as a result of showing up. Now you can read the blog (link above) from the surprisingly chilly single digit days of March and tuck that into your pocket for a few months from now when its approximately one million degrees and we are dripping sweat as soon as the alarm clock goes off at zero dark:30 AM. read more

From Peripheral to Positivity: My journey with November Project and receiving the Positivity Award

This weeks guest blog comes from the winner of the positivity award: Mr. Cory Donovan himself…we will let him tell the story:

I was so incredibly honored to receive the November Project Baltimore Positivity Award after this morning’s workout at Rash Field!

I wasn’t always a runner. I haven’t always been interested in being particularly healthy, physically fit, or athletic in any sense. And it wasn’t until they passed the smoking ban in Baltimore and I could no longer smoke cigarettes, shoot pool, and drink a beer that I considered getting into running. But that’s a story for another day… read more

Community (4.13.17)

NP3

This post is written from the perspective of co-leaders. The three of us put our heads together and after lots of discussion managed to synthesize all of our thoughts about some of the events of this last week. Before going any further however, it’s important to remember that our perspective isn’t actually the one that matters. It’s the perspective of this community and the members that comprise it that is most imperative. So, while we feel it is important to put our thoughts down in one place, it’s more important to recognize that the thoughts and feelings of our community far outweigh the significance of our own. read more

KNEE TAPS (4.7.17)

Weeeeee made it to April! Actually, we are a week into April and we have yet to acknowledge that in the blog. Emotions have been high this week with thank you’s, I’m sorry’s and love notes. We wanted to thank everyone that participated in the March tribe workout competition. I think we were all pretty entertained with the workouts and there were so many more awesome ones to choose from. If you weren’t at the workout on Wednesday, we have GOLD NUGGETS of appreciation for you to hold near and dear to your hearts forever and ever. If I can remember to bring them this week, we will hand them out again! read more

Montebello #sunrise6K

NOVEMBER PROJECT: REPEATEDLY DOING COOL SHIT BEFORE THE SUNRISE

IMG_0718

If you were at this mornings workout then you (now) know how EPIC the sunrise is from Lake Montebello. With LIGHT CITY starting this weekend, we needed to find a new location for this weeks workout. The #leadersonwheels thought it would be a fun to challenge the tribe in a different way by hosting the sunrise6k in a new location. AND FUN IT WAS. The tribe 100% threw down and #racedeverything and luckily we caught it all on the gopro for some beauteous photos (THANK YOU EMILY LERMAN). read more

Today’s blog post brought to you by Jutta (SEE PHOTO ABOVE), this weeks winner of the positivity award. Jutta began with NP BAL with the OG crew. She raced in #bmore_Bmore and was a force of positivity and recruitment the whole time.  Now that she’s back in Baltimore, she’s been to all the workouts and brings her A game attitude with her. We are happy she’s here, you are sure happy she’s here. If you haven’t met her yet, take the time to get to know Jutta. You can find her by #justshowingup early, she’ll be the smiley face waiting for the tribe to arrive hugging and chatting with everyone. Here is Jutta’s NP_BAL story: read more

NP whirlpool tag (3.8.17)

IMG_9995

Adult recess was in full swing this morning as we welcomed Nick Paul’s workout as the second chosen from the NP BAL workout competition for the month of March. Nick explained his workout to us on the google doc and ended it by saying in his normal humble fashion, “Any changes and accommodations welcome…I just like tag.” Well, Nick, we like tag too AND we also like to have fun and play games before we go to work for the day so congrats on all the SMILES and heartbreaking RPS losses (see the photo album for #proof) you helped create this morning – the tribe for sure loved this one. The man, myth and ironman legend even won one of the RPS battles and made it to being a tagger. read more

Keep NP weird (3.1.17)

IMG_4089

HOLY MOLY, it’s March?! Time’s flying over here, especially when you take a week off work and go on vacation leaving Pat and Nick without their third wheel to make people sign waivers and blow whistles. Just kidding, I should take a minute right here to say THANK YOU to Pat and Nick for the past week. I will repay you in #freefitness and hugs, forever. read more

Tiered badassery(2.15.17)

IMG_1

This mornings tiered workout brought out the crazy, up for the challenge (some might call stupid) attitude in most of the tribe and we were pretty impressed with how many humans pushed themselves to do the “this is stupid” AKA the hardest challenge we put out there. Even our ten year old birthday boy took on the top tier workout. As far as I know, there is only one person who pushed herself above and beyond on that one by doing 2 FULL SETS of stairs “by accident” because either she wanted that extra push OR she forgot to fully read the chalk…Valencia, congrats we named that so hard it isn’t even written in chalk the elitest tier “More Stupider,” for you and anyone else to challenge yourself with next time. read more
