SO you want to go on an adventure?!

HEYO !

HAPPY SUMMER SOLSTICE. The sun was in full show off mode this morning as it made it difficult to see the chalk we had carefully and beautifully set out prior to 0530 this morning. Regardless, it was a pleasure to see you all this morning. There were several newbies at both 530 & 630 and that is extremely exciting – let’s keep this going. Who have you spoken to about NP lately? SPREAD THE POSITIVITY. THIS SHIT IS GOOD. Let’s get 300 people to a workout. We need your help. read more

Guest Blog: You Want an NP Rainbow Tag? Read this First.

November project is a group of individuals who come together to workout and through that, we build connections and friendships. Many of us have formed a large part of our support system in Baltimore as a result. At the root November Project is about holding each other accountable to #justshowup to workouts. But if we are doing that we should also hold each other accountable to be the best versions of ourselves and sometimes that means to thinking critically about what we are doing. So now we are going to ask you to think critically and really truly listen to someone who has been involved with November Project long before it arrived on Federal Hill Park in 2014. She is also a member of the LGBTQ community. She is funny, strong, smart and challenging in the very very best of ways and we are better because she decided to join us. We feel like it is important to give everyone in the tribe a voice so please keep an open mind as you read what it means to her when you wear a rainbow on your chest. read more

Summit from the newbies

This blog comes from two summit newbie co-leaders so bear with us as we use a lot of words to describe all that we experienced this past weekend and stay tuned for further actions..!

*************************************************************

In a word summit was REFRESHING. It felt like being dunked in a dunk tank reaffirming all the wonderful things that November Project does. Refreshing because I had the chance to meet so many other people who were passionate about this movement and equally jazzed to connect with me. Refreshing knowing that now we have the chance to continue to do that here in Baltimore. Summit was refreshing just like each time I show up to November Project it is refreshing. It shakes your day up and, when you’re new, maybe it changes the way you think working out should be. It’s why I love it so much. Starting my day with a group of people who is willing to get up at dark o’clock in extreme humidity, willing to get out of their comfort zones to move and sweat together. YES this is definitely refreshing and it’s important to remind us of that. So this weekend, summit was refreshing like jumping into the ocean in February, at the northern most tip of Canada without a wet suit with 1500 of your soon to be friends from all over the globe. read more

Embracing a new NP experience

A little over two months ago, we had just finished another great wednesday workout and I was debating whether I had enough time to make it to breakfast before the rest of my day started. I was walking and talking with Mercedes, when Pat looped his long arm around me and pulled me to him.

“Hey Kaye, can I talk to you for a sec?” he asked. read more

Way to push yourselves and get some PRs this morning! Extra congrats to the newbies who completed their first PRday and, of course, PRed as a result. We promise not every week is quite as miserable. We gave the Positivity Award to Lily at 0530 this morning for coming and being a consistently positive and friendly ray of sunshine in our mornings. Way overdue, we hope you have fun with the wooden oar this week! Pacin’ & Racin’: PR pals coming by Sunday..!  read more

Rainbow for you

This morning blog is necessary to document this morning we had but it’s brought to you via WISCONSIN NOTES:

  • Traveling friday (last of the month) brought us to Middle Branch Park
  • We even got a newbie to this epic location!!! (HI ALLISON!!)
  • Speaking of Allison’s, we ALSO had a surprise co-leader visitor from NP Orlando! Safe travels home, ALLISON Palmer!
  • We ran slow incline hill sprints + exercises at each bench at the bottom of the grassy incline…AKA hill
  • There was zero rain before/during/after the workout yet somehow Gio organized a rainbow for us to enjoy #miracles
  • You thought the end of the workout was fun when we played red light green light BUT THEN the most fun 730AM dance party took place and THAT WAS FUN. How do we make that happen every week?
  • Pacin’ & Racin’: PR buddies coming to you liiiiive at the end of NEXT week. I’m working on them and appreciate the patience!
  • SUNDAY we are at lululemon in Harbor East @ 10AM with Truesports PT talking about how to increase your strength and mobility as you ramp up mileage.

    Pacin’ n Racin’: PR

Several months ago Pat, Nick and I sat down with members of the tribe to have a pow wow (NP backyard summit was the #official name) about NP BAL in an attempt to get some fresh perspectives of November Project Baltimore. One speedy and race experienced member of the tribe (Victoria Ballestero: pictured below crushing the Boston marathon 2017 in HOT conditions) gave us an idea for what might bring some people coming back to November Project more consistently– she suggested having NP training partners or groups. She was reminiscing about her experience training for The Baltimore Marathon 2015 when the tribe was a bit smaller and there was a large group of runners training for the marathon together. We did long runs and tempo runs together which made it all more fun plus accountability is important, you know, #verbal means something. I put this in a spot for safe keeping in my brain until I figured out how I thought it could work. read more

    Go Fish (5.3.17)

This morning we showed up in Bruins or any hockey gear, green, green #grassrootsgear to honor the passing of a core member of the NP global community. It’s days like today that we remember to live each day to the fullest; not to take advantage of the fragility of life. It serves as a reminder to tell people that you are sincerely happy they are here, whether that is at the NP workout or present in your life. As the co-leaders from Boston wrote in the blog about Ben: “He loved this shit with his whole heart and welcomed tribe members old and new with his enormous smile and big ol’ bear hug.” As days go on, we can all shoot to be a bit more like Ben in our bear hugs and welcoming new and old tribe members alike. #benlovesNPlovesben read more

CONGRATULATIONS on some crushing PR day this morning. TRACK THEM HERE: https://tracking.november-project.com/events/5078

Today’s blog post comes from veteran Jess Lewis who contributes equally in positivity and snarkiness weekly giving the leaders her input on where we did well and where we “left room for improvement”. She’s a rock solid member of the tribe and we are really happy she is here with us. Congrats on one year, Jess!  read more
