Here FOUR A Good Time [DCA]

It’s not four years, it’s for life. Where my sorority sisters at?!?! (I’m joking, this is a JOKE. Please keep reading.)

If you can’t sense by the absolutely ludicrous amount of “4” puns that are about to ensue, November Project DC celebrated four years as an official NP Tribe yesterday. Our NP-versary, if you will, coincided with the absence of one of the most critical components in this movement. Steve-O, if you take a chance on your honeymoon to read the blog (hint: don’t. I got you, Court) there’s simply no NPDC without you, you’re the heartbeat of this community and we all owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude.

The NPDC origin story was not dissimilar to the OG OGs Brogan and Bojan jaunting around Boston. Two dudes, an understanding, and a WHOLE LOTTA HYPE. Danny Metcalf, you’re the most enthusiastic, baller, fucking hardcore dude out there. I absolutely understand why people would hurl themselves out of bed to come hang out with you for an hour.

So we got two ding-dongs, trying to make this work,  and another essential component: Abe. How many times have you showed up, not expecting much at all, only to be completely floored by the sheer beauty of a fierce sunrise over the Capitol? How often do we even stop and think how unreal it is that Abe is our headquarters, our playground,  our temple? Lincoln is home, and that’s pretty gosh-darn special.

Two dudes, plus Abe, then, the mother-of-all co-leaders, KDD. The hair. The bounces. The thoughtfulness and character. What an absolute force of a human being. You made so many people feel comfortable with NP, with the hugs, with being silly, and that’s really fuckin’ cool.

About a year ago, JL and I took the reins — creating the most formidable 3-headed monster in the DMV, and I couldn’t have asked for a better compliment to my louder, more abrasive nature than Jake’s understanding, pensive, midwestern courtesy. Jake, you have an amazing way of disarming people — zero pretension; all love. Your genuine affection and passion for NP is obvious, and infectious. Glad you’re here, man.

It’s now time to recognize the people who really matter — y’all. You. All. Whether you’ve been coming since day 1 or you just had your first workout, you are crucial to this movement. Whatever your reason is for showing up, whether you’re brand new to the city, just went through a tough breakup, trying to get in shape, or you think our workouts would look really cool on your Instagram — hot damn, thank you for being here. NP isn’t made by co-leaders, it’s by and for(four/4/fore) the Tribe.

Thank you for sharing parts of yourself with us, parts that maybe you don’t let anybody else see. Thank you for your generosity of spirit, and willingness to do something dumb/crazy/downright absurd, just because it will look cool/be funny. Thank you for buying in, and competing, and racing everything, and recruiting everyone, and taking all these maxims that are otherwise just words and breathing life into them. Thanks for making Washington, DC, a happier, more vibrant, less serious place to be. The nation’s capital is better because of y’all.

Four years is a long time to do anything, but y’all keep this movement exciting and captivating and fun.

So thanks for being here. Keep being here. We appreciate you. We love you.

10.23.17 BOOM.

FOUR. MORE. YEARS.
