WISCONSIN NOTES:
- The first edition of the Mtl vs Ott Fit Off was a banging success. Duh.
- Guest blog by the lovely folk of Work it YOW.
- Be there Wednesday.
Below are the beautiful sentiments of Work it YOW (Ottawa’s killer pledge tribe) on the afternoon of sweaty loving and good times that was shared.
“There has been so much excitement building up to this weekend’s fit off. What an awesome way to spend a Sunday meeting friends cross-provinces. We finally got those people out who aren’t tough enough for 6:29am start time. Luckily for them, they got to experience what it’s like to be #weatherproof– after three days of sunny and hot weather, the November Project Gods had to put us in our place and remember what we’re all about. So thank you for that. Those newbies got to experience what it’s like to be kinda badass. And was this group ever badass. I think there was more time spent on the ground with wet bums. on hands racing fearlessly for the retrieval of tennis balls during hungry hippos. Partner baseball diamond sprints rounding the bases got us sweating. Huckle buckle created tight relationships and hips-in opportunities or connecting less than comfortable body parts together with strangers.
The rivalry was real, but we couldn’t help but come together. The inevitable bond and need to be a community was far more powerful and ensured that we hugged and high fived everyone at least 18 times in the day. Some were new to partner workouts, touching strangers, holding sweaty hands, but it quickly became the norm. Something about seeing other people doing hoisties and back to back squats, wall sits, burpee high fives and more leg throws than have ever been done in one workout, without a flinch or look of confusion on their face, makes you just go with the flow. So all those people seeing this for the first time quickly understood that what seems a bit weird and uncomfortable, is actually the best way to laugh during a workout and make friends. We laughed so hard our abs hurt, which made the leg throws even harder!
Special shout out to Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. for hosting us, Stephen Bierbrier for his endless ideas to create community opportunities like this one, to Savannah for capturing some amazingly awkward moments (photos to come!) and to the canines who joined in the fun. Our dog friend Robert actually worked so hard that he threw up mid-way through the workout. Thanks to all the wonderful people from November Project Montréal and for Ottawa’s Work it YOW (and even a Vankleek Hill Local!) communities for coming together with your positivity and your energy. Thank you for sharing your weekend with us! This will be one for the books! Until next time!”
Well there you have it folks. Is there anything more beautiful?
And if you missed the workout, don’t even worry because you have a chance to redeem yourself and get your weekly hugs in this Wednesday morning at 6:29am in whatever city you find yourself in this time around.
