Today’s guest blog comes from Martina Erdstein.
When I came to NP in Montreal last time I was home from college, it was just beginning to grow – still a kid that was new to the world and finding its way. Now, I’ve come home again and the tribe has grown so much! The tribe is big, and only growing. It’s fast, it’s loud, it demands attention. I love it when we’re working out at the old port and I see people passing by. They always stop to watch us, or smile at us, or come up to ask what the heck we’re doing. Because that’s the nature of the energy of November Project… we draw people.

Watching my mom and brother co-lead the workout was a treat. They both led challenging, fun workouts that I think we all enjoyed. What I enjoyed the most was seeing them lead, because I don’t always get to see them in that kind of position. And it made me think of how it’s cool that at November Project, anybody can become a leader. Eli and Nancy weren’t the only leaders today. The people who took the risk of doing cartwheels before anybody else did, and falling on their butts so that other people would feel comfortable falling too… Those people were leaders. Every single person that shouted out a “fuck ya” or a “good job” was a leader today. All the people who gathered up tribe members to do 100 burpees together were leaders too. So it’s nice that NP gives people the chance to lead like that, maybe even without them being conscious of it.
All in all, it was a beautiful sunny morning and it made me incredibly happy to start it off surrounded by 40+ beautiful people getting sweaty and dirty, and having fun as usual.
