You are going to want to read this blog post in its entirety. Not because I’m some sort of wordsmith, but because it contains important, life changing information, naturally. You’ve been warned.
Today was fucking inspiring. Like Al Pacino, Any Given Sunday locker room speech inspiring (though slightly less dramatic and without LL Cool J’s funny little glasses). Crisp air and cold steps did not deter our members from fighting back that urge to hit the snooze button one last time…in fact little could stop our members from getting to the Art Museum. We had a nice showing and a handful of newbies. Some particularly bad ass members of our sister Tribe in DC traveled nearly 140 miles up I-95 to take part in this Wednesday’s workout. Say what? YES, Casey, Matt, Chris & Donna you are fucking awesome. If there was NP Extra Credit, you would get it in spades. Beers on us next go around.
We broke out into groups and relay raced. In typical NP fashion, this was no ordinary relay race. One member ran up the steps and completed the top deck loop while teammates did squats, incline push-ups, wall-sits (against each other), decline push-ups and sit-ups. We cycled through each team twice and needless to say, members were thrilled with leadership after this. We bookended our workout with suicides on the steps. We hugged, we laughed, we sweat, we built community.
Today our Hard Hat was passed from Ledge-Jump-Legend Richard to Terrell. Funny story, this was Terrell’s first workout with us. The dude was IMPRESSIVE. Remember, this award is passed among members to the hardest working person that week. Get to the steps. Work your ass off. And you could wear the crown. Congratulations Terrell!
