Sometimes November Project feels like magic. It’s this incredible force that motivates us to work hard and have a lot of fun. It’s a place that’s safe and silly and inspiring all at the same time. But that’s not all of it—that’s not even the most important part of it. NP is a many-layered thing: not unlike a turducken.
The outer layer—the turkey—is the work. It’s the push-ups and the running and the sweat. It’s the spray paint and the fuck yeahs and the high-fives. It’s the first thing people see, so they may assume that’s all it is. But we all know that there’s a lot more hiding underneath that turkey.
Once you slice into NP, you see the duck that’s underneath: how much fun we have, how silly (and downright weird) it gets, how incredible it feels to be inspired on the regular by people working their hardest and cheering for each other.
But no turducken would be complete without that chicken at its heart. Without a doubt, our chicken is the tribe. NP may feel like magic, but the most amazing thing to me is that it’s not. It’s made up of people, not pixie dust. It’s made up of individuals committing to the workout and committing to each other. The fun and the safety and the magic that I love so much is made up of every single person who shows up, and their dedication to support their tribe, work hard, and get weird.
Now let’s get as mushy as mashed potatoes for a second: I am so fucking thankful for this community. I am thankful for all of the incredible friends I’ve made who make space for this awesome/weird turducken of sweat and magic. I’m thankful for this group that always has my back. Tomorrow night, when I eat too much stuffing and fight my way through the inevitable food coma, I’ll be thinking of all of you and how grateful I am. My life wouldn’t be the same without this turducken–or in my case a tofucken (thanks, Kevin!)–so thank you all.
