I regret to inform the November Project public, and the whole wide world, that today, July 20th, 2015 was the end of November Project Boston.
The tribe that started all other tribes, just… melted this morning. What started out as an amazing collective of human beings who left their homes and made their way by foot, bicycle, and other transportation to “the destination,” became a messy, disgusting puddle of sweat covering a couple of tennis courts in a park in Brookline, MA. Far more devastating than the Boston Massacre, it shall be known as the Sweatiest Day in History.
Many people came out to the park in Brookline, already very very very sweaty. The tribe played Tag for 10 minutes by having people wearing hats chase everyone else, and when anyone was tagged, they did a set of squats, then continued running. They could hug in groups of three to protect themselves briefly from taggers, but sweat seemed to create an unexpectedly effective lubricant so even when tribe members tried to hug they slipped wildly out of each others arms, leaving them vulnerable to aggressively sweaty taggers. There were more squats than anyone could imagine. Some people actually melted into puddles of sweat during the tag game, reducing the number of players by a significant number before the workout had really even begun.
The remaining sweaty people then started a circuit of non-stop movement including jumping-switch lunges, partner sit-ups, and pushups. One minute on each movement with no rest in between quickly turned NP athletes into NP puddles resembling lunge, sit-up, and pushup shapes on the tennis courts. It was a sad, unfortunate, and slightly embarrassing ending for the tribe, considering there was such a strong showing today. But one-by-one, the sweat overcame. By the time the final seconds were called from Evan’s mouth, there were no more people. Just a ground covering of sweat on the court. Sweaty, sweaty sweat. And a few neon pieces of Grassroots Gear.
Evan announced to any remaining ears that had not yet fully dissolved into salt water, that the third round of exercises would be tracked for a score today–the total number of lunges, sit-ups and pushups each puddle was able to complete in the last three minutes of work. I guess, just to see if anyone at all remains, we’ll post the record tracker link.
And breaking news just in: Evan Dana himself, has also become a puddle of sweat and is no more. He’s got quite a bit of endurance packed in that body, so it just took a little longer for him. But yes folks, November Project Corporate is retracting it’s oft quoted “#weatherproof” slogan, due to the fact that the tribe sucombed to the weather, or rather became the weather. The heat and humidity have won, and actually disintegrated the human bodies and integrated them into the humidity. The Tribe was strong. We thought the Tribe was stronger than that.
So we tip our hats to NP_BOS. It was a good run since 2011. We’ll miss you all disturbing peaceful morning communities with your loud “GOOD MORNINGS” and “FUCK YEAHS!” We’ll miss you making Boston a fitter, funner place to live. Hell, we’ll even miss your sweat.
And we shall all remember this day in history. We will never forget. The Sweatiest Day.
