The 4th of July is the greatest day of the year. It’s really not even open for debate, it’s a fact…What’s not to like? Its summer time! You are likely going to drink large amounts of beer. Maybe find your way to a large body of water to hang out with friends and family and watch fireworks. Not sure how it could be any better. And of course, it commemorates that time a bunch of guys (and gals) got together, decided to give some colonial subjugators the middle finger, and form the greatest country ever.
So, to earn that guilt free celebration for the greatest day of the year, November Project New Orleans decided a July 4th themed workout was the best way to kick off the festivities. An array of Red, White, and Blue adorned our members, including special guest this week: Lady Liberty. It started with the basics, a lap around the dome and 15 minutes of stairs. To represent all 50 states, the tribe proceeded to work its way through a filthy fifty of; 50 pushups, 50 situps, 50 jump squats, and 50 lunges. Then to wrap it up, we ended with sprints and burpees. Each person did 4 sprints (for the 4thday) across Champion Square, at the end of each sprint 7 burpees (because July is the 7th month).
All in all it was a great day with a great group of people and a great workout. The winner of this week’s Positivity Award is Terry. Terry shows up every week with great energy and an infectious smile. Terry we love the attitude that you bring to the group and appreciate you showing up every week.
In closing, let’s all remember those who have and continue to sacrifice for the continued independence we are so lucky to enjoy. Stay safe this weekend and party on… You earned it this morning!
“There, I guess King George will be able to read that.”
John Hancock after signing the Declaration of Independence.
