With a quick bounce and a “F*ck Yeah!” We were off on a warm up jog around the block to Gold Metal Park Hill. Surprise! The sprinklers were on..oh well, a little water never hurt anyone! Today’s workout had two parts: the larger part consisted of hill reps, and the smaller part was a both awesome and really stupid team relay.
For the first part, tribe members completed 3 hill sprints straight up Gold Metal Park Hill followed by a quick recovery lap up and around the spiral “big horn” path that wraps around the hill and leads to the top. After the first 3 sets of hill reps, members did 3,6, or 9 push-ups. After the second set of 3 hill reps, members did 3, 6, or 9 box jumps. and After the third set of 3 hill reps, members did 3, 6, or 9 push-ups AND box jumps. This pattern was repeated for ~27ish minutes.
After the tribe was sufficiently tired, a the second less hard, more stupid part of the workout began. The tribe was divided into 5 teams of 13-14 people with each tribe represented by a fruit-inspired baton. except for team 5..the grapes were forgotten so Stu’s keys represented team 5. Teams 1-4 however, were represented by a banana, an apple, an orange, aaaand..a pineapple! In that order. Half of each team went to the bottom of each side of Gold Metal Park Hill and the goal was to relay over the top 14 times while passing of the baton once members got to the other side. Really fun, really dumb, and a really good way to cap off an awesome morning.
This morning was awesome. The energy was fantastic. Both Ben and myself (Holly) were touched by the amount of community and teamwork shown. Great job guys, keep it up! You all make it much easier to get through an injury-recovery with all of your positivity.
