Thanks…for Everything

Are there too many blog posts, social media posts, articles, news stories, IG stories, gifs, and billboards about gratitude?

Can there actually be too much gratitude?  It was Thanksgiving yesterday and it’s the season of giving thanks, so it seems only appropriate that we send some thanks and shout out some gratitude for the good things in our lives.  I’ve definitely had a bunch of conversations lately with grateful human beings who appreciate what NP is, and what it does in their lives.  I think most of us can pause for a moment and identify some of the things about NP that we are grateful for–the community and friendships, the accountability and consistency, the challenge and opportunity for fitness, hugs, burpees, stairs, and hills.  Okay, okay… some of us may not feel so much love for burpees but the rest of it is pretty great.

When I think about what’s really freaking cool about NP, I think about the little things…which really are the big things.  Like the fact that we have a beautiful city with lots of interesting spaces and green places to play.  And the amazing stadium, which is both beautiful and brutal, and that is open and available for us to use.  And knowing that no matter what, we can always #JustShowUp, (no matter how long it’s been) and people are glad we’re here.  And knowing that even if you don’t get a hug anywhere else in your day, you can always get one at NP.   The fitness, the community, the kindness and the movement seem to influence each and every one of us.  Of course that influence is unique for each of us, but there’s something special there.  There is something to be grateful for simply because NP gives us something we don’t have on our own.  And this whole thing wouldn’t really be anything without ALL of us.  It’s not about BG and Bojan as the founders.  It’s not about the coleaders of any of the tribes.  It’s about all of us choosing to come together, to be kind, supportive, encouraging, hard working, weatherproof, accountable, fierce, weird, and real.  So thanks really  needs to go to you, the tribe.  From the founders and the OGs, to the old school peeps, to the regulars, the newbies, and everyone in between.  Thanks.  You know… for everything.

Let this be a reminder for all of us to be grateful for the little things and the big things.  For the human beings right beside us who make our Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (and maybe even more days than that) the best days of the week.  For the movement that enriches our bodies and our lives.  And for all the ways that we are influenced, changed, and just simply better.  And let this be an invitation to all of us to be more vocal about the people, the places, and the experiences for which we are grateful.

Life is way too short to hold back on gratitude.
