#talk30tome (YYZ)

Wisconsin Notes: Tracker. Hashtag. Michelle “Smooth Arms” Roest. Phone Numbers.

Ok, so here’s the deal. You guys all go sign up on the Tracker, regardless of whether you’ve already signed a waiver or not, and we’ll explain the title of this blog post. Preachy and/or blackmaily for sure, but it’ll make all our lives that much better, so I’m cool with it.

What’s the deal with the Tracker? Firstly – built in waiver. Neat, eh? But beyond that, you can track each and every workout that you d. We set them up at some point prior to Wednesday morning, and then after the workout you can log the number of reps you may have done, or the time it took you to get through a workout. And then when we do that workout again in however many months time, you can see the progress that you’ve made (obviously all attributable to November Project). You can also drop a real Verbal on there in the week before the workout and see who else dropped one too: this keeps us accountable. Other tribes can see this too. Toronto is one of the smallest tribes in the November Project community, but we don’t have to seem small!

This wasn’t taken today, but it could have been. Squats and planks yo.

Now on to more exciting stuff: today was Michelle’s (a.k.a. Smooth Arms) first day in the hot seat. And she killed it! And kind of us. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m going to be kind of soooore tomorrow. She didn’t even hesitate when I asked her what she wanted to do for her first workout. I’m a little scared about what we may have just unleashed. On the flipside, a few more workouts like that and my abs are going to be fantastic! And burpees in piles of snow? Could you get any more badass on a Wednesday morning? It was cold, dark and icy, and I’m proud of all of you who just showed up. I don’t know where 2016 is going to take us, but on the basis of today, I can’t fucking wait to get there. It’s shaping up to be a stellar year. Set some goals, share them and be accountable to them and the people around you. This is going to be your best year yet, and we’ll be there every step, burpee and squat of the way.

That’s the hot seat, right there.

And so, on to the promised explanation. What on earth does #talk30tome mean? Firstly, this. Please listen to this whilst you continue reading. November Project is now 30 cities strong. In December, we welcomed Victoria (BC), Miami, Iceland and Serbia to the party. And with more cities on board, a new hashtag was needed. It was opened up to suggestions from tribe leaders, and #talk30tome came out on top. For some reason no one was keen on #teafor30. So, tag your NP photos loud and proud, use it to stalk other tribes, and generally immerse yourself in the weirdness! Think of it like this. There are people in 29 other cities around the world who wake up early on a Wednesday, whatever the weather, and start their day with hugs and a killer workout. When they travel to these other cities, they go out and hug random people and run around with them. And it isn’t weird or creepy: it’s a positive experience that brings people together, no matter who they are and what they do. November Project does that. We share that with all these different people, and if that doesn’t make you proud to be human – proud to be yourself – then I don’t know what will.
