Sweat & spray paint: Sunrise 6k (ORL)

When all 51 branches of November Project worldwide decided to band together to hold the annual Sunrise 6k event during the same glorious week in July, we knew that it would be a true test of our #weatherproof-ness to throw down 3.7ish miles in the height of summer and the perfect chance to show the world what we’re made of.

So whether it was your first time at November Project, or if you knocked out a PR from the last time we held this “fun run” back in October, we all took advantage of the will and in our headspace that can tell our body not to slow down or quit after that last bridge crossing in Blue Jacket Park or after that last pass through Dyani’s mobile, musical aid station.

Many of us have never run a distance like that before, while some of us used this morning’s mileage as a partial training run for something bigger. Regardless of what we set out to do when we got out of bed this morning, we accomplished a great feat together: giving out high fives, big smiles, and echoing that love and support all the way back to the boardwalk finish line!

Today, the special #sunrise6k tag was well-earned. So go ahead and show off your #grassrootsgear (along with those big grins) proudly, and rock that fresh #orangeslice tag that debuted this week! Each and everyone of those shirts has 95% black spray paint, 3% #angelface sweat, and 2% dirt on the front. And always high and tight, just as it should be.

notes:

  • Comment on this facebook event post if you didn’t sign the roster (aka raffle entry list) before the race today. Two lucky winners will score some fresh kicks from our friends at Brooks Running, announced next week!
  • We’re collecting school supplies for local schools in need at the next workout, so collect your pencils, markers, crayons, pens, rulers, notebooks, backpacks, etc. and bring them with you on July 31. #community #makeitbetter
  • Thanks to all who helped lay out shirts and tag!
